Launching higher than 400ft

If indeed area 51 is an Intamin rocket does anyone know how fast the launch would have to be to clear a 420ft. hill. Does anyone think the launch will go towards millennium island so on windy days the wind will help push it over the top. The wind always blows in that direction. Millennium Force always rolls back on the magnum hill which goes into the wind

I believe someone figured about 115 mph, if i am not mistaken. And yes it will launch towards the MF island, but that is going E-NE, so i think if anything it would be a disadvantage.

As someone pointed out to me today (you know who you are ;) ), the 420 foot measurement would be from the ground. If the station is 20 feet high, it would have to climb 400 feet.

It would more likely launch toward the north, and then turn 90 degrees for the top hat towards Millennium Island.

110~ mph would reach 400 ft with no friction in a vacuum. I'd assume that it would require a 120-130 mph launch to crest the top hat in th real world.

I think some of you are forgetting the fact that they could have accelerator LIMs in place in several different spots along the track, up to, and even upwards into the Top Hat. Think of Speed the Ride. It has secondary LIMs toward the end of the circuit to thrust you up the end spike. LIMs don't necesarily have to launch you out of the station with enough oomph to get you into the Top Hat. They can supply the thrust later when it is required. For that matter, you need not get lauched up to 120-130 MPH to make it up to the top of a 400 ft Top Hat because they could have LIMs the entire way up if they wanted at only say 100MPH. For that matter, in theory, using LIMs throughout the Top Hat it could even be 500ft high.

The whole reason behind using hydraulics to launch a train is to cut down on the power usage of a ride. This is good economically for the park, so why combine the two technologies?

They would have to have fins on the outsides of the trains (which is why I think Premiere's trains look ugly), and LIM brackets on the outside of the vertical track as it goes up the tower. I think that this would make the ride look bad aesthetically, not to mention how much of a hassle it would be to inspect and perform maintenance on if something were to malfunction. Having only one launch closer to the ground makes it much easier to inspect and maintain. It would also make the ride that much more extreme, since the launch would be faster.

I think they will launch the ride east to west, I think it will run parellel to the midway. I think that somehow it will use two launches to get it over the hill, similar to what they did with Volcano.

How is east to west parallel with the midway? For the most part, that midway heads north all the way back until they enter Frontier Town.

yes, i do believe it launches parallel to the Midway. i could be wrong, but it's from my own experiences that lead me to my conclusion.

And why are you bringing this up?

sure it launches parallel to the midway, but isnt the north and sout? not east/west

Next time I head out to Cedar Point i'll keep an eye on my electronic compass in my car, maybe i'll be able to find out for you, unless someone beats me to it of course....
Area 51? what is this all about? a new ride? or what? im confused... someone fill me in
