launch track gap is gone

looked at the cp beach cam and the track is now continuous up the launch side but the crane is still in the middle. they must be planning on dismantling it and taking it out under the track.

Actualy the crains are OUT of the oval (Do you need glasses?)
There is still one crane in the middle, and I believe there is still a gap in the brake side of the track.

Take a look from the PT Cam.

And TTD2003, if you are going to insult someone at least learn how to spell first.

Thats right Virginia, I am Santa Claus.

Actually it looks like the whole circuit is complete - they will probably have to use the other crane (that's out of the infield) to lift the one crane that is left out of the infield.

World's first strata-coaster!

I think it would be easier, and less costly just to dismantle it, and truck it under the launch track. There should be plenty of clearence down there.

What is most anticipated event of 2003? the debut of Dragster, the release of Metallica's new album, the release of Terminator 3, or the release of Matrix:Reloaded...tough call.

Yeah good call, especially towards the end of the launch track.

But why would they complete the circuit if they're just gong to dismantle it again?
I don't get it. They finished the circuit, which is great, but there's still a crane in there! What's up with that?

Probably to do a pull through....
What does that mean?

dismantle the wha
A pull through is exactly what it sounds like. They pull the train through the course go make the gauge is correct, etc.
TTD check out the pictures in the gallery, it shows the Millenium pull-thru. Nothing can touch the plywood area to meet with laws and safety regulations.

Race For The Sky.... at 120mph!

I looked at those pictures, very interesting. I still don't exactly understand what a pull-through is though and why they would need a crane for it (pardon my ignorance)

If something is in that area it must be removed before it is allowed to run, also slowly pulling the first time ensures the trains are not going to have a problem on the track.

Ok thanks. So where is the pull-through on Top Thrill Dragster?

Cedar Point 2003, where no roller coaster rider has gone before

Top Thrill Dragster,

They hook up a train to the crane and pull the train through the entire length of the ride. Hence the term "pull-through". I believe I read that they are only going to do a pull-through on part of this ride. They probably won't do this until sometime in the early spring after most of the construction / theaming is complete.

Ok, now I completely get it.
