Latest 280 South News!!!

Hey all,

We'll be heading to Sandusky from the North Thursday morning and was wondering what the latest word was on 280 South??

This is our 1st trip this Summer and didn't know what the current construction situation was like. Are we better off keeping on 75 and hitting 80/90 - even though it's a bit out of the way?

No major construction on 280. The occasional freighter holds it up at the Maumee River once in a while as it always has, and every other week or so it seems there is pot hole repair keeping it one lane for a very short distance. You are very unlikely to run into any problems. I go through it everyday to work and have not been late. I hear the new bridge opens June 28th.

This site says it opens June 24, just in time for my trip.

As of the last time I went, the bridge seemed like it was pretty much ready to open (I think they were just painting lines and stuff), and you no longer need to take the detour through Greenbelt road; you could drive right underneath the bridge and go over the drawbridge. Just be careful, it gets pretty tight in there.
