On Thursday night 6/23/05 at about 8:30, Draster wasn't broken down but their was a stand still line forming outside of the entrance right along the lauch way back to the grand stands. From what I could see the line quee was empty. They were letting people enter the line once in a while. So I went up to the entrance ride op and asked her nicely what was the deal with the standstill line with it running like it should run. She didn't know and said that we are required to do this at this time. So me and my buddy went to Magnum. But why on earth did they do this and is this normal?
I have experienced something like this. I am not an expert on policies for the employees, but if the ride has just broken down and it has just started to run, they only let a few people in just in case it breaks down again. I had this problem and they were only letting the riders trickle in. I think they have to wait a while to be sure it is running properly before they let everyone in. I don't really know though so anyone else who knows please chime in.
Thrills Around the Corner!
I believe you are correct, Top Thrill 182. They do not want a thousand people in the regular queue line if it breaks down again. It causes much confusion with people leaving the line and trying to get through the turnstiles and such with so many people in them. If there is just one line of people outside the entrance, guests can easily leave the line as they wish without having to push through all of the people in the turnstiles.

I've seen this happen tons of times last year. And I would have to say that Top Thrill 182 and TopThrill420120 are probably correct. *** Edited 7/1/2005 4:47:59 AM UTC by TTD 120mph***

Last Thursday evening the ride was experiencing some issues which required it to be moved in manual, and reset several times. Park policy does not allow guests to enter a line when the ride is "down mechanical"... When the ride was stopping, and being moved in manual it was "down." Once it was reset, it was back up. This explains the stop/go at the entrance. Far too many proxy sensors on that ride...

I was one of those people in line when it rained and stayed for at least 3 hours before it was running. I was in the 2nd train that launched with people in the front row. It was so fun to talk with the ride ops about TTD. The issue is when it rains the wheels that move the train to where it needs to be for launching and unloading get wet and can't grip the bottom of the trains. So then the wheels just spin and cause noise.

101 on Magnum and counting...
I beg to differ about running the ride in Manual mode and not allowing guests into the queue. I was at the park on 6-23 and the ran the trains in Manual from around 9:30 and still let guests into the line until 10.

Rollbacks - 1 - Opening Day 2005
Last TTD train of the night (6-23/24).
That did happen, but it is not SOP (Standard Operating Procedures) It was an exception given from management. Because of the nature of the "mechanical issue" they were still able to run the ride, just in a much slower fashion...

Because of TTD's strict loose article policy (no cell phones, backpacks, etc.) I think it takes a while for the ride ops to sort through all of the people that have gathered around the entrance. *** Edited 7/16/2005 11:30:19 PM UTC by lacrossedman4*** *** Edited 7/16/2005 11:32:38 PM UTC by lacrossedman4***
Correct if I'm wrong on this....
Last year when I rode TTD for the first time, it had been raining all day and it was about 7pm when it stopped and they started doing test runs.
We heard people saying that TTD had to complete 5 test runs (5 runs in a row with no rollbacks) before it was allowed to open. Anyone else heard that before?
