What's typically the last ride of the night for you at CP? I'm guessing an overwhelming amount will say Magnum. That's my answer, has been ever since I've started going to CP in '96. I can only think of one time (out of around 30)where I didn't close out the night on Magnum. I closed it out on Power Tower Turbo Drop. Anyway, what's your answer?
My last ride is always taken on the Space Spiral. This was time to rest after a full day of riding and tons of walking. It was also a way to see the birds-eye view of the park all lit up at night, and to bid a fond farewell to the park until my next visit.

Magnun is generally it, but I'm not generally a last-train-lurker. After closing day this year, I want to disassociate myself with that phenomenon. There I was with another individual, and both of us had several hundred rides this year, and people I had never seen before are claiming that they deserve the last ride for some reason. We suspected this would be the case, wanted no part of it, and had our "last rides" the night before (with a trimless double lap). People were generally being jerks, and ready to fight over who would among the final 36 riders. It was sad. Some people give "enthusiasts" a bad name.

Man, I loved those last rides on Saturday evening - Coaster bliss.
I don't have any kind of tradition for last ride of the night, it just depends on how busy it is and how late I'm running.
For the most part though, I kick the sky on Raptor before closing.

When I first started going to CP I never really stayed to closing that much. Then in '96 by accident I was on Raptor's last train of the season on closing night. When we pulled into the station everyone was chanting "one more ride, one more ride!" It was one of those special CP memories that I have before my "Season Pass" years.
Anyway ever since then I have made it a Point that when I stay to close that I always do the last ride of the night on Magnum. For the last three years that I have been doing it there was never, never a problem until closing day this year. I would have to say that in the last three years I've had atleast 100 last rides on Magnum. Now at of all of those last rides only one sticks out in my mind, and that one is the one on October 9th, 1999. It was a train full of hardcore POINTER'S. I was sitting with good company in 61, and got two amazing breakless rides. Anyway what happened the night after that on that platform made me want to never do last ride on Magnum again.
Now I paid my dues on Magnum this year with waiting hours bymeslf at the back gate and entrance in the mornings, the hours that I have waited in line, the hours of rain delays I sat through, the hours of delays I sat through with the changes of bad wheels and other mechanical problems. Now not once have I stated "I deserve last ride......or I deserve this or that...." I went through all of that because I wanted to, not get something out of it in the end. There were people jumping up down closing night screaming, "Ohh I deserve last ride....... Ohh I deserve this..... Ohhh I deserve that....." Give it a break, we should be thankful for what the park does for us and there should be no reason at all for people running saying how much they deserve things. Now I'm not saying that everyone was like that, but there are always a few rotten apples that spoil the bunch.
Now I will continue to do last ride its remains to be seen if it will be on Ma??? ?? ??? ?? ????? ???? ??? ? ??????? ? ????? ?????? ???? ?? ? ???? ?? ? ????????? ????? ?? ???? ?? ? ????? ?????? ???? ???? ?? ? ???? ?? ???? ????? ?? ??? ?? ?? ? ?????? ??? ?? ?? ??? ????? ?? ?? ???? ?? ??? ???? ? ??? ???? ??????????? ? ????? ???? ????? ? ??? ??????? ? ???? ?? ???? ???????? ???? ???? ???? ???? ?? ??? ?????? ?? ?????? ??? ?? ??? ???? ?? ?? ?? ??? ???? ???? ????? ??????? ? ??? ?? ???? ?? ????? ?? ??????? ??? ??????? ? ???? ?? ????? ??????? ? ?????? ?? ??? ???? ????? ?? ??? ??????? ???? ???? ???? ??? ? ????? ???? ? ????????? ??? ?? ??? ???? ???? ??? ??? ?????????? ?? ???? ???????? ?? ?? ? ????????? ??? ??? ???? ? ???? ?? ??????? ?? ?? ???? ?????? ?? ?? ???? ?? ?? ?? ?????? ??? ???? ??? ???????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????? ?? ????????????????? ?????? ?????? ? ???????? ?? ??? ?????????????????????????????
I usually end up on Blue Streak as the last ride of the night for some reason. Guess it's because it's close to the gate.

Dan, Jeff,
I know exactly where you guys are coming from. I also was on the Magnum platfrom "after hours" on closing day this year and although it would have been great to get the last ride of the season it does no good what-so-ever for people to claim that they deserve a last ride. I know I was personally just thankful to be getting one more ride in on the greatest rollercoaster in the world, while others were trying to make their case as to why they deserved the last train.
I nailed Magnum at 10:30 when I was there last time, but when I got out, I saw Gemini was running and the line was tiny. So... I beared a 3 minute line for the front seat and had my last run as Gemini Red.
We won.
I usually try to hit the Magnum right before dusk so when I get in line it is dark, then I go over to the Power Tower, and after that I run to the Raptor before the lines close.
I usually go to Magnum for my last ride of the night. Though sometimes I go to Gemini and get on about 7-10 awesome night rides to close the day with.
Oh , God, don't get me started on Closing Day '99 Magnum last train. While I didn't "deserve" a last ride (no one does, and it's stupid to think that they do), I *really* wanted it. I don't know, that's how I am. I tried to get it, but failed, and got the second to last train. While this didn't bother me too much, it was the fact that some people in the row in front of me (where my sister and her boyfriend were) *pushed* my sister into the car. The lady said, "My husband's the Magnum Man (LAME-O!). He deserves the last ride." I couldn't believe it. The nerve of some people. Anyway, I must admit, the last ride on Magnum this year wasn't all that. The lights were on in all of the tunnels, the trims hit pretty hard and it just wasn't as good as usual. But that's ok. I'll forgive it. :)
I'm as hard core as they come and to boss other people around saying that they deserve last train is not right, and down right rude. Frankly what makes you any more special than anyone else. Like I said after my 800th lap I wasn't running around saying "ohh I deserve last ride, or I deserve this or that." I'd never do something like that, I have respect for myself, the employees, and the guests around me. Out of all of the hard core magnum riders in the past 10 years only one has given me an attitude and that is the "Magnum Man", I won't say his name but he has over 3,000 laps on Magnum. I was told halfway through the season that he was pissed at me beacsue he thought that I was out to break his precious record. He never said two words to me the entire season, I would say hi to him, and he would mumble something back. I'm not out to break his record, I am out to have a good time and enjoy the park with my freinds and family. Thats what its all about anyway.

I know the guy you're talking about, and he's one of those "talkers" I don't particularly care for (see: fart-in-a-car comment in other post). What small, sad little people you meet in those situations. I think Dan's 800 rides would certainly entitle him to some special treatment (and hell, I deserve something for being on a hundred or so of those laps with him), but I think I speak for both of us when I say we do it because it's a good time, not because we want someone to stroke us for our accomplishments.
I mean really, that night left a bad taste in my mouth. It made me ashamed to be associated with coaster enthusiasts. I could give two goose craps on a frozen pond who you are, what club you're in or how many rides you've been on... not only do you sit down to take a crap like me, but you also pay the same admission to get in. The reality of life is Cedar Point would most certainly continue to exist without you.
OK... time to put down that Dr. Pepper... it's not even 10 a.m.!

In 1999 I have lucked out a couple of times-got the last run of the night on Gemini once. Got the last ride on Magnum once (being called the "chosen ones" was too cool!) and of course managed 4x as last train of the night on Raptor. 2000 I will probably shoot for Raptor again or MF-if I am so lucky again...
and Dan-dont let the idiots get you down-
we all have had to tolerate more than our share of them on every visit to CP-you be proud of your accomplishments and screw everyone else-I dont claim I deserve anything from CP or anyone there-because basically I dont-and for someone to state that is simply childish.

Welcome back Raptor riders-how was your flight??
Raptor rules the (last ride of the night time) sky at Cedar Point.

I didn't know until just now that things got so ugly on closing day. I thought it might get a little tense just because so many people were trying to get the last ride, so we just decided to go. Glad I missed it.

Who's thinking of moving to Florida for the off-season.
My brother-in-law and I got in line for Power Tower just as the park was closing. And, to my surprise we were the last two in line (in the drop line...not planned). When we got to the front, everyone boarded but there was no room for us. So we got to ride the last drop all by ourselves...the two of us only. At the top we were thinking, "What if the ride operators leave and we are 240ft up in the air all night". Scary thought...not serious though. But it brought even more suspense to one of my favorite rides.
Dan, Jeff,
You two alone are a thousand times classier of Magnum fans than that guy is. So, just pretend he doesn't even exist next time you run into him. Since Magnum was built it has given 20.4 million rides. That guy has around 3,000. He has no right to be rude or complain that he should get the last ride. That guy is to Magnum as to what a pimple on my @$$ is. I compliment you on the way you guys handled the situation.
