So i was riding dragster yesterday and it had just came back up after rain delays and they launched the 2 empty trains and the first one flew over the top, and the second one rolled back. After this they were only running trains without the last 2 rows. Does anyone know why they do this?
Weight. When you load only the front cars, there is more weight in the front of the train, which helps to prevent rollbacks on windy days. Consequently, it also makes for longer lines.

I hate when they do that. it still has rollbacks too. I rode once on a windy day and they only filled the FIRST 2 CARS. It still got rollbacks, that's when I got mine :)
I don't get the whole "load front rows only" at the start of the day or whatever. If the computer averages the past three trains, shouldn't it not matter how light or heavy the train was? So the first one or two may rollback regardless, so get it out of the way and load the full trains.
I don't understand the logic of opening row by row for the first hour the ride is open. Anybody have the truth about why they do this and not just speculation? I know they do it to prevent rollbacks, but I mean is it to warm up the hydraulic system (unlikely) or something of the sort?

Somewhere in here Rideman gave nice explanation of this topic I think.
But the track and wheels need to warm up on the colder mornings. Look at the weather conditions when Dragster manage to park itself and balance at the top of the ride.
Yes, only loading the front few rows on Dragster does make the lines longer. However, sending half full trains that clear the tower will have shorter lines than full trains that roll back. As the ride runs for a while and gets warmed up, they will open the rest of the rows.
