Landscaping?

I know this isn't as exciting as talking about the layout of the new ride etc..., but I really enjoy the atmosphere of the trees and various plants. Typically with new rides and an ever expanding park we see these various plants get the ax. I thought the area bewteen Power Tower and the Gemini midway was a very beautiful place with all the tall trees.

I got to thinking that since the layout of this new coaster is pretty obvious now, what kind of landscaping changes will this midway see? I am hoping for lots of trees to be planted in between the launch track and brake run (but who knows where the que line will be). Basically, what I am wondering is what will this new midway look like when we arrive for the 2003 season? Don't get me wrong I love new coasters, but I also admire a park that can preserve nature.

I hope, that more than anything, the replace the trees that they took out near Iron Dragon... the ride just looks wrong without them...

I wonder if the midway will be enlarged? This is going to be one packed place!
I'm sure some midway revisions will be made between 16 and Magnum.

The area I'm concerned about, though, is the bottleneck underneath Corkscrew. This area has always been a tight squeeze. And, with more traffic flowing to and from that direction because of 16, it's going to be a little chaotic.

I was there back in the beginning of September, and that Magnum midway was all torn up. I'm sure theres going to be alot of redesign when it comes to that section of the park.

Gravity, I wonder about that too. This year, I feel, was really bad as far as crowds in the midway.

Hopefully the queue is filled with trees. I'm a little tired of the endless rows and covers on the queue's. Magnum is a great example to follow.

Yeah, but it only took Magnum how many years to get that much shade? ;)

That's true. However, Millennium Force will never get to look like the queue for Magnum. Where's the trees!!!
I couldn't agree more Mr. Coaster about those covers on the queue's. We need more trees!! Unfortunatetly, it will take years for new trees to become like the trees near Magnum : (
Well I know this isnt saying much but I was told by several people at the park that the midway and surrounding area will recieve a "major face-lift". I dont think someone would make that up and i heard it from several people. It seemed legit and by some of the markings on the ground and the flags still hanging out that there will be some dramatic changes. im kinda excited to see how things look next year, it may look like a whole new park!
Me I just like it shady If I got to stand in line I want to be Kool about it,but I would prefer trees. and water and seats and water and a bathroom ....;)

I'm not an old foggy I'm just an old coaster rider..

I'm hoping that those jumping fountains we heard about will finally make their way to the park. They'd look pretty nice running alongside #16's launch! :)

I would like to see a short-cut midway over the lagoon with the entrance to the new ride somewhere back in the trees. Free shade!

Agree. Everytime I walk though there I wish there was a path from about Power Tower's entrance to the other side of the Coaster resturant on the water side of Corkscrew.

Hey Gravity - that would be really neat. The fountains could be timed to erupt sequentially just as the cars passed. And if the cars were to look like jet fighters, it would be like from the shock wave that follows a supersonic plane. Just so no one could accuse us of going off topic, the spray could water the plants, too.
Of course they could always pave the whole area underneath 16 and have bleachers all down the side with the queue underneath. Maybe even giant green/yellow/red lights mounted on the giant 'Christmas Tree'. You know, really play up the whole dragstrip theme.

I could see this from Paramount, Universal or maybe even Six Flags, but I'm trusting that CP won't go quite that far.

I still dont understand WHY they placed such a ride in an area that has alot more space that they could use for this ride, but now that its L-TH-B, all that space on the millie island is basically wasted...it would be perfect for this ride to just use up some of that space at least.

I aslo hope that they replace those awesome trees. You know that those willow trees must have been there for many, many years from their growth...that was one of the only places where it had a relaxed feeling to the park, aside from the Frontier Trail.

...Denial is an ugly thing.

as i recall CP has a tree rule--chop a tree plant a tree so i think they just removed the trees by iron dragon and be the track for the time so construct vehicles can manuver(?) and not hit the trees, and as an added plus we can tell a little more what in bloody h*** is going on.

I don't know what cp will do but after looking at the rest of the park for so many years i think that cp will make it look good. But will the traffic pattern they deffinatly have change something because even with MF they moved the entrance to mantis and they had a lot more room over there than they do by #16. So they might end up moving the entrance for corkscrew or something and getting rid of some of the queue lines from there since they are rairly ever used.
