This is old news, but it was in today's (Cleveland) Plain Dealer.

Landmark hotel breaking with the past

Leave it to the media to jump right on top of asinine stories that nobody will ever care about and let the important ones age until everyone's mad that the story went so long unnoticed.  It always goes that way.  Same goes for that article mentioned on the board previously last month about the new ride.  Trust me when I say that most every newspaper operates in the same fashion when it comes to selling their news.  It's a loveless profession that constantly invests empty promises to people that serve as sources and contacts.  Much of it is creatively stating a question then modifying the answer to bias a supposedly non-biased article.  It makes me sick that this is my profession due to lack of options.  Maybe next year will be better.

Yeah, old news but still kinda sad.  It's too bad they couldn't upgrade and keep the historic status, but what can you do now.  Also, the last line in that article about returning the plaque really makes it sad, at least to me.

Just because the Breakers lost it's official status doesn't mean that people will still not revere it as a landmark.  It is our perception of the hotel that matters.  Not the Historical society's.  To keep up with the times, especially in a modern oriented park, you have to update to a certain degree to keep the guests happy.
Daredevil's right, also remember Breakers is historical, not because the society says they are, because we all know it's been their since the resort, beach, and bathouse days!

*snickers* bathouse...

Yeah who really cares what some historical society says, it's just a matter of your own opinion.

Millenium Rider, maybe there is a bat house there near the bath house.  :)
maybe the dead bat inside is a historical landmark as well Digital Daredevil!(or should I say Matt Murdock!,) I personally,  think they should have remodeled maybe a wing, just to keep the look. Make the room bigger! That would have been cool! glass in a wall with the view of the lake! Just thinking wildly!
