Lake Erie monster returns

As noted here: http://www.pointbuzz.com/news.htm?id=641

Anyone who crosses the Huron River on Rt. 2 knows the monster. I've been wondering where it's been and was actually going to start a thread about it.

I'm glad to hear it's back. I've been looking for it all season. I could have sworn, though, that it's been there longer since 1994. I'm looking forward to seeing the little one, too!

Is anybody sure where the monster actually is? I looked on one of those Google maps for it and couldn't find its location. I'd like to overfly it on Sunday (something intresting to do). Is it near Cedar Point (as the crow flies)?

The monster probably isn't big enough to be seen from the air, sorry.

However, on my next trip to the point I'll try to mark the closest GPS location I can (from the highway) so you can try on your next trip.

[edit: It's here, just north of the highway on the west side of the part of the river that widens a lot.] *** Edited 6/24/2005 5:01:29 AM UTC by Michael Darling***

Thank ya much... so, I'm looking to the northeast of the Thunderbird Golf Course? Even if I don't get to see it, it would still be a hoot. As far as not seeing it from the air, I guess that depends on the size. Time might be a factor too... we're trying to get in before any storms can pop up. Getting to the park as soon as possible would also be a plus.

No, it's straight east. It's only 100, maybe 200 yards north of the bridge over the river on St Rt 2. Its original location was about 100 yards out from the west bank.

It's not part of the *river* really. It's more the backwater from that big loopy turn there.

If I happen to be out that way tomorrow I'll grab that GPS fix for you.
