Ladybugs?

When I was there in early October my friend and I were standing in line. All of a sudden he tells me to look at my leg. There are literally twenty of them sitting there. Then I like around and they are all over people and on the fround and on the queue rails. Was that just one day or has it still been like that? BTW, I'm sure they were ladybugs.
When there is a fresh hatching of bugs, whether it is ladybugs, or the dreaded CP muffleheads, you can be sure they'll swarm somewhere... usually in people's ways, because we get in their way...

Usually they go away in a few days, when they have time to spread away from the nest they hatched from.

They look like ladybugs.. but they're not. I forget what they're actually called, some sort of Japanese Beetle of some sorts. They're devilish little things, and they bite. And, there's nothing you can do to get rid of them.

Let me tell you, it's a whole lot of fun to have the track covered in these things, or mayflies, or muffleheads (whatever the season may be) and start up the ride in the morning. The first thing you have to do is home the train, which pulls it out of the station slowly, then back in slowly... just creating a huge storm of bugs throughout the entire station.

So, yeah... you can imagine what the front seat looks like when we start launching the train for light curtain and quick-stop tests. It's disgusting. So, if you're ever waiting at WT in the morning and have to wait longer after we're done doing test runs, it's because we're cleaning bug guts from the front seat... stop complaining about the extra 5 minutes you have to stand there. ;)

WT has more bugs than most rides in the park due to the water. I know many bugs lay eggs in/around water, so they are all around there, probably in the wet sand too. Hence the spiders... they know where to get a good meal.

The mayflies I didn't mind at ALL, but those damned muffleheads were relentless! Plus the mayflies were fun to chuck at people's shirts b/c they stick to them *bwahaha*

I don't remember the beetles though... when was this? I wasn't there right away b/c of school. Hmm... Oh well... Time to make me a cool signature that says what I've been on :-D

Right, those are Lady Beetles, commonly referred to as LadyBugs though because they look similar. Ladybugs are red with large black spots and do not bite. The Lady Beetles are orange with small black spots and do bite. The bites hurt like hell and they are usually out in swarms of them at a time.

This is a picture of a japanese beetle. This is what they do to plants, and their grubs eat the roots of grass leaving brown patches up to 20' in diameter.

I seen some japanese beetles at Cedar Point, but not in swarms.

cyberdman, how dare you call them "lady beetles," they are definitely not ladies. :)

Eddy the retard is awesome.

That's a japanese beetle alright, although it's not the bug in question here. They're talking about an asian beetle that is similar to our own native ladybug -- it eats aphids and other pests. Unfortunately, it has a tendency to swarm and make a pest of itself.

I've heard that they don't actually bite, they pinch. I don't know if it's true or not. Just thought I'd throw that worthless information in.

Thats the one GregLeg. I didn't get bitten but when I was in line all of a sudden this lady screamed and said a bug just bit her. Those things were disgusting.
When you kill them, they must let our an odor or something, because it sure stinks after you squash one.
