Lady falls in station / TTD P.A. problems

I was at Cedar Point yesterday and there was a very interesting occurance. I was up in the station waiting when the ride temporarily broke down. When they gave it the go-ahead to load the trains, a lady stepped forward, fainted, rolled, and fell underneath the track of Dragster in the station. It took about 30 minutes before they finally got her out from underneath there. I thought that was quite interesting.

Also, TTD experienced alot of downtime yesterday due to difficulties with the P.A. system. By the end of the night, they were running the ride with no sound effects at all. Luckily, it turned back on for my ride in the front seat, but it broke down again around 10pm.

How did she fall under the track? It doesn't seem there is enough clearence unless she was really small. That is interesting.
Was/ is she ok? And did they revive her before taking her out from under the tracks?

I was also in line when she fell. I was on the ramp ready to get in the station. (NO SHADE) I really couldn't figure out how she could have fit through the tracks, but I guess its possible. Where I was you could look under the station and see her. She was sitting up and everything. I really don't understand why it took them so long to get her out of there, if they would have waited another 5 minutes everyopne around me would have passed out too. It was way too hot. I really think they should give away free water to avoid the whole fainting thing.
Heat stroke seems to be a big problem in parks. I agree that they should give out free water, not bottles but just glasses of ice cold water. Of course then they won't make as much money off the bottled water!

Does anyone know if they actually would give you a glass of water if you asked politely? I have always wondered but have always been afraid to ask for some weird reason. Would they point you in the direction of the water fountain instead?

If you go up to the food stands and ask for a glass of water, they will give you one! No need to be afraid :)

CP gets all their bottled water for free under the agreement with Pepsi. They purchase all the sodas and the bottled water is "thown" in.

What time did this happen? I was in line for TTD (around 2) on Thrusday (8/21) and a lenghy breakdown happened. Unfornately, I was behind the wall so I could not see anything.

I did hear them testing the sound. It did not sound very good. The sound was back online on Friday Morning.

It was very hot on Thursday. Those free glasses of water made the day a little easier.

This particular incident happened around 11:30am. When she fainted, she fell by the end of the train and rolled down underneath the track. She was fine, from what I could see, and I didn't notice any cuts or bruises on her when she came back up.

Well, the free ice water thing is available, but only at certain food stands. And even as polite as I am towards those employees, they still look at me funny, as if I'm affecting their paycheck in some unfathomable way.

i have never had a strange look or glance when asking for the water. i usually dont even go to a cash register for it. just an available window is all you need, and BAM!, free water, its as easy as that...

The only strange look I've recieved when asking for free water came from another person who just ordered a meal, holding a couple of soft drinks - "Ice water is free?"

I certainly hope that the woman who passed out is alright.

Well, I ask for water all the time, and get it for free at the food stands. Sometimes before rides such as Millennium Force, I will drink water (in hopes I dont pee my pants) and sometimes afterward. I dont do this all the time, but I can get the water for free. It really helps settle my stomach if I need it...

I think they even have a specific size glass (OK, paper cup) to give out the water in.

Any stand that has a soda fountain will give you a small sized cup of water for free.

Some employees insist that they cannot give you ice, though.

If they insist that they cannot give you ice, report them to the food services office. They absolutely should give out ice with the water.

The only bad food service employee I came across this year was a girl at Guliver's Grill (or whatever it's called now). She didn't seem happy to be "bothered" to get my water, and she didn't put ice in the glass. I politely asked for ice and she argued "that the water is cold". I told her "it doesn't matter, I want ice", and stared her down. She had the attitude and expressions of a real b*tch. She finally gave me ice, but if I ever deal with her again and she has that type of attitude, you can bet I will put in a written complaint about her with CP.

I've seen several stands not put ice in water. There seem to be two reasons. The first is because the employee is European. In general, folks in Europe just don't get our fixation with ice here in the States. If you politely ask, they will add it. You might get an odd look, but that's due to culture shock more than anything else. The other reason appears to be that they are running short, and don't want to have to refill the bin, because they only use a small amount in any drink, regardless.

It's not war, famine, or pestilence; it's only downtime.

Could've been a heat stroke. I've had a couple, and the best thing to do is to sit down, or lean over if you can't get water right then. *shrugs* It is pretty intresting. A new proplem comes up every other day on TTD. :(

Courage is not the absence of fear. It is over comming it.

I'm Finally back from my weekend in Bristol for the Sharpie 500 :)

Anywho, Speaking of the ice, I went up and asked for Ice Water and the foreign girl went to get my ice and dropped the scooper on the floor and proceeded to get ice out with it. I just walked away and didnt say anything, but was suprised by that. This was at the Stockade for everyone's wonders.
