L-TH-B Illustration

Alteration of Shorty's Spaceshot photo!!!!

Here's a possibility of what a Launch-Tophat-Brakes version of this coaster might be.

Just a little fun in Illustrator and Photoshop. I have to admit it was a little tight trying to make the lagoon side "brake run" match up with the already in place track. It didnt make an arch as nicely as the launch side. This says to me that it is either a trick of perspectives or that the track actually has to come down farther off the tower and thus not meet up with the already installed "brake run" supports. I guess we will have to wait. Sorry about all the edits. This was a pain to get the picture up for some reason.

That site is not working I want to see that pic
you are correct nothing is working
that is the best pic yet, but I think that they will make it bigger because I worked at cedar point and I know somewhat what they are building and I think they said it will be the tallest and fastest and good a big drop on it and I think they will start making the coaster longer because thats what cedar point said to me. I dont think they are done with this this the pooring of the fotters and they are waiting for the season to be over with so they can tear up the midway for the new coaster.

Thanks for the great pic it was a great shot.

I hope you're right!
Great pic! Let's hope the real thing has a station ;)

I left the station for you to do. :)
Maybe it's better left undone. Don't wanna start another argument about what side it's supposed to be on! :)

I'm not a big fan of the L-TH-B theory, but i've got to admit that it looks great! Just one problem though...i dont think that the top-hat will extend that far over the tower.
If it is a L-TH-B as it seem to be, who cares? I would be darn happy to ride the thing and I think most park goers around the country would say, "gee, I wish that was in my park."

Curved track for the top hat or bunny hop has a sopport connector...so your screwed with that pic buddy. keep trying.

That could be the top of the tophat because if you look at the track it is upside down and the white tape shows it the one in the pic.
oh sorry about that
Uh, curved track for the top hat would NOT have a support connector - have you seen Xcelerator's top hat? That near piece of track in the picture looks like it could be for the very top...

That's a pretty nice Photoshop job, sigma one! I think that will turn out to be a VERY accurate representation of the top hat (of course it's missing a few catwalks and you can't really tell the twist in the track, but overall it looks great). That looks to be a well-proportioned height and well-proportioned "track above supports". The only things it's missing are transfer track and station(s).

Chris, what are you doing responding to GTTP this time of day. Shouldn't you be in school studying? ;)

OK, So maybe the tower structure comes up and connects with the tophat. It was just an interpretation. I just used pictures I've seen and what we know about Xcelerator to come up with a possibility. So what does your track piece prove? 1) the tower actually connects to the top hat or 2) there is a hill somewhere else in the ride. I guess we will be seeing an illustration from you Big D that accurately depicts exactly what this thing will be. I can't wait.

Says who? Xcelerator was also built with Wicked Twister-style support towers, and this one clearly is not. There are no "rules" for something like this aside from "make it strong enough so it doesn't fall down."

That's very true Jeff, I was just confused because, first of all, the track in the picture did not have a support connector as Big D said, and second of all, I don't see what track with a support connector would have to do with proving sigma one's depiction wrong.

Edit: now that I look at it, I see what he was saying - since that far piece of track of convex, it has to be for either a bunny hop, hill of some sort, or top of top hat connected to the supports, none of which sigma one has in the picture. Nonetheless it looks good. :)

Hello. I am new to your forum so please excuse any ignorance on my part. I have been enjoying the various threads and I am very excited about the new ride at CP. I have a question and a couple of comments:

1. Where in the real world is there a L-TH-B coaster? I would really be interested in if it has been done before because I agree with a lot of you that this seems like such a waste of kenetic energy after coming back down from a height of more than 300-400 feet.

2. I know this has been brought up before, but with a project name like "Dragster", it certainly seems that it will be some type of "dueling" launch coaster with two trains or cars. However, the twisting track that is on site would certainly indicate that it will NOT simply go straight up and then back down. How about an Xcelerator syle top hat but with the two trains PASSING each other at the top before going back down and into other elements and/or simply stopping?

No I dont mind you using the photo. I think the tophat will have supports unlike Xcelerator. The way you did the red/white track looks great. With there only being 7-8 white sections at the park, that may be what that part looks like. Nice job. I have a feeling and I am hoping that the layout will be a little different.
