Knex Top Thrill Dragster Model

I made a TTD model last year with the rubberband launching system. It was fun until my cats got in a fight on it and completly destroyed it.

Do you like stupid videos? Do like awseomeness? Then go to www.idiots.co.nr!

It's weird that I can patiently wait in coaster lines, but when it comes to putting Knex together count me out.

New Season of 'The Office'. TONIGHT!!!

Ok, I get it now. Do you think that it will work for a 6'3" hill? I also might try using a string so that it won't break.

Well I used 19.2 volt drill and it barely works with my RPM model. And by barely I mean crawl over top. I also have to make sure the battery is fully charged or else it wont make it over. Try using an electric drill. I almost did but that's way to much power for those knex.:)

I'm building a K'nex roller coaster that will feature a lift hill rather than a launch. The lift hill is about 5 feet tall and i dont think i have enough chain pieces to make a typical k'nex chain lift for a hill this tall. Does anybody have any ideas on how to make a different kind of lift? i'm trying to imitate the MF cable lift but its not working out too well.

Why not just buy some more.

Theyre quite inexpensive. http://knex.com/customer/product.php?productid=16311

I had to buy a large amount of the chaingear connectors (http://knex.com/customer/product.php?productid=16238) because the ones I were using kept snapping from the power of the launch. I was originally using one, and that's what was causing the breaks. It was soo funny because it was like a hydraulic launch coaster breakdown. When I ran out of the connectors, I had to order some (50) and now I put 2, one on each side to ensure they dont break.

All in all I only paid like $4 for 50 new connectors.

Don't have to. I have a new trick up my sleeve for something fun when I get the chance. It won't even require but 1 chain link anymore.

I don't get to play with toys all that often, but when Jen and I are bored, we like to come up with new stuff.

Good, try new things, it’s good for the mind. I actually have dozens of ideas for mimicking real life methods of propulsion that coasters use today. Including magnetic launching, hydraulic launching, cable lift, LSM launch, and air launch. I’m also experimenting with new methods of braking, drive wheels, restraints, and supports.
Plus, I don’t see them as "toys"; I see them as tools to better understand roller coasters. :)

I'm making a TTD model with the Rippin Rocket. It is about 5 1/2 feet tall! I also have maXair (using spare pieces and the Ferris Wheel's gear for the gondola) and Skyhawk (using the Ferris Wheel's chairs!). In adittion to that, Screamin' Serpent, Corkscrew Canyon, and Pirate Ship Park models are all in the basement too.

If an empty room ever becomes available, you should turn it into an Amusement Park of Knex rides.:)
