I am sure there is another thread on this, but I am planning on going there this october for a weekend (don't know which yet), and I was wondering if anyone on here has been there before for the Haunt event.
If anyone has, feel free to tell me about the typical crowd levels on sat/sundays there.
I know no one can never really predict actual crowd levels, but an estimate would be nice based on one's experience.
for example, are they as bad as CP on a typical saturday with the park filled to capacity?
thanks!
I actually have never been to Kings Island which is weird because i have a platinum pass to Cedar Point and could get in free. I was really hoping on going there sometime this year and was also wondering if it was scary than Cedar Point because i get scared really easily and tend to stay away from scary things. I can do Cedar Point because the only place that i can really get scared is walking by Carnevil. Sorry i had no answer for your question.
RIP DEMON DROP I WILL ALWAYS LOVE YOU
Kings Island gets just as crowded as CP on most weekends, including the Halloween Haunt. IMO, the Cedar Point parking lot is like valet parking compared to Kings Island. The spots at Kings Island are very far away from the entrance, and it gets full too.
Yeah, the crowds get VERY heavy at Kings Island during the haunt. And expect very very long lines for the haunted attractions. However, they do a really good job with their haunt, so even if you don't do a lot, you should still have fun.

KI's Haunt are always pretty nice. But a Saturday is miserable, it isn't even fun.

Have you been around at midnight during Halloweekends? Even on the craziest Saturdays things are pretty well cleared out by that hour. I'm not saying more people won't anticipate staying longer if the park is open longer, but the current crowd pattern doesn't seem to necessitate that.
And then one day you find ten years have got behind you
No one told you when to run, you missed the starting gun
Miss Maverick, here's my advice for KI Haunt & crowds. First off, I've had an awesome time at every KI Haunt I've been to the last 3 years (when I started going), and I highly recommend it. The dark forest setting of the park really helps create an eerie atmosphere that CP Halloweekends just can't do as well.
First off, I believe there are no Sunday Haunt events at King's Island. The haunted attractions run Friday & Saturday only, while Sunday is the safe day to bring young kids for Howl-O-Fest and ride rides.
As for crowds...I've never been there on a Saturday or during the peak Halloween period, but I can already tell you that crowds seem heavier in general than CP, at least on the Fridays I've been there. So, I would NOT recommend going on a Saturday or going in late October at all. I'd recommend going on a Friday during one of the earliest possible Haunt weekends like I have been doing the last 3 years.
What I have experienced all 3 years are moderate crowds, with all Haunted Houses and outdoor haunts having waits from 15 minutes to an hour (King's Island lets guests in much slower though, so the houses are not all ruined by stacking). However, in my experience the past 3 years, the Haunts consume nearly all the people. The park has a fine collection of rides that are all nearly walk-ons, excluding Flight of Fear and Firehawk. Mind you, this has been on Friday in late September / very early October.
Also, I highly recommend you get there before the gates open. There is an incredible energy when the gates open and all their Screamsters come running out at you. I'm talking hoards of Screamsters and all the teens going crazy, screaming. It's a riot everywhere you look and so much fun. That always sets the mood for a fun Haunt visit.
I have a question on the stacking everyone complains about.
Would you rather not get into every house or hit everything with some stacking issues?
Personally I would prefer to be able just to see everything but this is a question based in opinion so please share thoughts.

Oh I have been to KI before in summer and I love all the rides.
I just wanted to know about the crowds....thanx FFej.....but wow...heavier than CP's in october, i may have second thoughts on this as we only will have like one full day to do the haunts, (saturday) plus sunday is like a 4 hour drive back to cleveland for us.....
I don't think the crowds at KI Haunt are heavier than CP. In fact I would wager that KI did not hit the 65k mark like CP did last year.
It's crowded, yes. And Friday is really crowded too, since there are so many locals, unlike CP.
As I've said on here before, I don't think CP's stacks up to KI's Haunt. The Haunt is considerably better IMO.
I went on a Saturday a few years ago with some friends...
We had planned on going on a Friday night but we had car trouble and got stranded for several hours at a gas station about 15 min away. We had to call a tow truck and catch a ride to a Days Inn with the gas station lady (6 people ages 16 to 25 crammed into the backseat of a tiny car, along with all our luggage!) Next day we got a taxi back to the car (finally fixed) and ventured into the park.
It was AWESOME! I can't tell if we were just glad to finally be there because of the fiasco from the night before, but we had a blast on Saturday. It was early October and it was actually pretty hot outside. I didn't even ride much because one of my friends didn't want to ride rides (I was bummed since I love the coasters there, especially Beast at night) but once the screamsters came out and the fog rolled over the midways it was fantastic!!! I wanted to do the haunts, so our group split up since the others wanted to keep riding rides. Early in the evening we were able to hit most of them pretty quickly. As the night went on the lines got much longer (hour or so) but we were tired anyway. We were glad to have a hotel room waiting for us!
