KI this coming week

I'm going to be at Kings Island either Thursday or Friday this week, but I don't know yet which.

Is anyone else going to be heading there one of those 2 days?

Are you offering to pick me up on your way through? ;)

You should just drive 3 more hours and go ride the voyage, I think you would have a lot more fun. Plus everything else that goes along with it. Just my little opinion.

If we had room. As it is, it'll be 6 of us (including 11mo old) and stuff for Wed-Sun in a rented Van. The ride there and back is NOT going to be fun. But at least I'll get to ride X-hawk....I mean FireFlight....agh you know what I mean.

Plus, I haven't been to KI before, so I'll be glad to add that to the list. And I'll finally be getting my pass. Then I need to determine which weekends to head to the point this fall. So far it's looking like closing weekend and then either Bonus weekend or that first halloweekend. Not sure yet.

I haven't set any dates for Cedar Point for the rest of the season. Fantasy Football draft day if Walt has that for sure. Closing weekend maybe. Fall freak out a possibility. I have weekends off, just no real desire to go right now.

I went to KI for the first time in June. It was actually a real good time. I have yet to post a Trip Report. I don't know if I'll ever get one up.

BTW I might be more up for closing weekend if you're renting a cabin/cottage again.

Well I recommend getting there at 9:30 when they let you into the front area, and then go straight for Firehawk, and Flight of fear, they tend to have the longest lines in the park. Also over in the kids section Avatar the ride is quite unique and mildly fun. The Racer is going to be your best bet for airtime, and the Beast is fun, at least the last part is. I have gone to Kings Island every year or so since I was about four, its fun to do once every couple of years.

I don't know what we're doing. Half our group went and had themselves a kid in February, and she doesn't want to have the kid out in the cold of closing weekend. (I can't really blame her either).

I'm going to look into it and see who I could get for a group for a cottage, and I'll probably be doing it soon so I'll keep you posted.

KY - I'm not in charge of the driving. My one request was that we go to KI while we are there, so that's what we are going to do.

Nothing like KIDS to ruin the fun. ;)

Be sure to ride Vortex in the 2nd last seat. You'll get some SERIOUS airtime on the first drop and the rest of the ride is really smooth for some reason, while the very back seat is really bumpy. KI is my home park and I know it all too well. Too bad Drop Zone probably won't be open... one of the best rides there IMO. And KYJoe is definitely right, running back to firehawk is probably the best idea. It gets long lines, and they have a lot of maintenance problems with it that cause them to close it for the day in the afternoon. As for the Beast, I'd wait for the front seat... the line is usually never long. Don't waste your time on Tomb Raider unless you enjoy being hung upside-down for 20 seconds. And Son of Beast.... well that's just something I'll never ride again. OWWWWWWWW
hope you have a good trip! :-)

Yeah, the TopSpins have never really appealed to me.

I'm going to try for going on Thursday, try and avoid the weekend crowds if at all possible.

I'll probably ride SoB so I can say I did, and despite all the bad things I've heard, I wish I had ridden it while the loop was still in place.

Drop Zone may still not be open. It's waiting on a part. It's downtime wasn't necessarily due to the accident at SFKK. It was still down on Monday 7/23.

Definitely ride Son of Beast. I wasn't sure what to expect with the new trains, and lack of the loop, but I just have one word. WOW!!! Rode in the front seat today and it was absolutely amazing. All the work that was done to this ride really shows. I wanted to ride it again, but was only in the park for a few hours, as this was just a short stop on the way home from Holiday World.

SoB is amazing!!! you are lucky you didnt ride it with the loop there was one word that comes to mind when thinking about the old SoB PAIN!!!
I also was on the same trip with Mark and SoB shocked me smooth Fast and WOW!!! They did a great job with it!!

Sounded fun, I'm leaving tomorrow to go there. I think I will give SoB one more try after my painful experience back in '05. I hope my maxx pass goes through quickly at the front gate. Did anyone else have trouble with their pass at KI?
