Kennywood Ads. In CLE Area

For the first time ever, I've seen multiple commercials aimed directly at the Cleveland area for Kennywood. The only reason why I bring this up is because I havn't ever seen this much advertising for a park that isn't Cedar Point (sans Six Flags). Just a little weird how all of a sudden I've seen so much. Opinions on why KW is trying this new advertising scheme?

Last public train of 2005 on MF!

I noticed that too when I flew in from Austin on Saturday. I think I spotted three Kennywood Ads from the Airport to Eastlake. (East side of Cleveland)

And, I didn't see any Cedar Point ads. Odd. Of course, that digital sign on that one bridge downtown (don't know the name) ussualy has a CP ad, but this time I think it was for CVS. *** Edited 6/20/2006 4:10:49 PM UTC by Keith 2005***

I've seen them this year, but I've seen them in past years as well...

I have seen two billboards for KW not one for CP or GL and heard over 5 commercials on the radio for KW and maybe one or two for each CP and GL. I live on the west side of Cleveland BTW.

I have also seen them around town and seen the commercials on TV. I think its neat that they are advertising in Cleveland, it shows Clevelander's the only real reason to go to Pittsburgh. Cause we can't be sure of seeing a Browns victory at the house of Ketchup. The ads also show what a great little family should be like. Besides Kennywood does have a great collection of classic wooden coasters. The Thunderbolt, The Jack Rabbit (a great terrain coaster), and The Racer (where the trains actually race each other and you can slap hands with the other train as you pass it and it passes you). Cannot forget Phantom's Revenge with the great second drop down the valley and over and under The Thunderbolt.

I've seen billboards as far west as Elyria.

I remember a Fox News show thing with Kenny Crumpton (sp?) going to Kennywood. It was basically a huge commercial and that was the first time I remember seeing advertising for it. But that Kennywood commercial with that guy going "I LOVE riding the Jack Rabbit at Kennywood -" Annoys me to no end. Don't worry though, I'll survive, I hope.

Paperbag I have one question for you have you ever been to Kennywood? Because if you haven't then you shouldn't knock them.

This is one problem that I see happen at this site, people bash other parks because, they aren't Cedar Point or a Cedar Fair park. Don't get me wrong I love CP and it is my favortie amusement park. I just don't think people should bash a park with a reason other than it's not CP or a CF park. Plus as most of us a park enthuasists we should also go to smaller family parks and independant parks that aren't part of a big corporate chain. Cause if we don't visit these parks they will disappear along with the rare and unusual rides that they have. This year we lost a park Ohio and in Myrtle Beach. Although day Conneaut Lake reopened its Tumble Bug ride which is the only second operating ride of this kind and the other is at Kennywood.

So while we all still enjoy the great rides at CP, GL, MIA, DP, WOF, and Knott's Berry, don't forget the small parks. Go out travel around you never know what great rides and parks you'll find. I did this last summer and found out how neat both Idlewild and Knoebel's are, along with Hershey and Dorney.

I'm from near Cleveland, OH and I LOVE riding the Jack rabbit at Kennywood.

True story.

I am from West Mifflin, right where Kennywood is, and i have noticed that right along Kennywood BLVD, there are several billboards for Geauga lake directed to us who have Kennywood as their "Homepark" saying 'The park that is closer, doesn't even come close!'
But being from West Mifflin, kennywood is not all that it is cracked up to be. i would rather drive the 3 hours to CP or the 1 1/2 hrs to geauga lake. KW has a great collection of classics, but i more of an aggressive rider and KW does not typically cater to those people like CP or GL does
