The downside to the ride wait message boards ala those found at Disney and Universal is that you have to be in front of them for them to be meaningful to you. So, I thought the texting idea was an improvement on the concept.
Are people NOT taking their cell phones into the amusement park these days? I always carry mine with me and...from my observations at movie theatres, grocery stores, the beach, the pool and countless other places it seems that the phone is as much a necessity as a pair of shoes in today's world.
I'm not saying you need to charge an arm and a leg for this service. But, if the information is already available there just needs to be an efficient way to deliver the information to make use of it. And, if they can make a few bucks as a result even better.
"You can dream, create, design and build the most wonderful place in the world...but it requires people to make the dreams a reality."
-Walt Disney
To be honest, I'm not sure that many people are carrying cell phones. Most of them are probably trying to cut down on the number of "loose" items that they carry, and honestly, if you're at Cedar Point, you're probably not there to talk on a cell phone. A wallet and car key is what a lot of people are switching to.

And when someone pulls out a cell on the lift hill of Millennium Force to check a text they got saying Iron Dragon has a 5 minute wait....

I can just see that happening! Like every 15 minutes!

An inverted coaster is like a ski lift gone haywire!!
I always have my phone at CP. Either taking pics or txting my friends while waiting in lines.
Cedar Point could get a twitter acount. Have Tony or Tyler or somebody else type what the lines are for the coasters every 30 minutes, and send them. Everybody who has twitter would get it. I know the people not at CP would get mad that they get a text every 30 minutes but all they have to do is turn it off when there not at the Point.

^^ - the T's have jobs to do. You want a system that doesn't involve an extra person to do the job. If you've ever seen the set-up used at Disney, it would be perfect for the Point.

^^Thanks. I don't know how I missed it in the proofread, and I hate it when I do that. Spelling and grammar is a pet peeve of mine. I'm kicking myself in the posterior for that one.

^^Never been to Disney. I should be going next summer with friends from school but Mom wont let me miss a week of Acme baseball. :(
