Just returned from several days at the Point with my daughter, son in-law and two grandsons. We stayed on the 10th floor of the Breakers tower. Concierge lounge was very nice and worth the extra money since my grandsons are 3 and 1. Wish the employee working there had smiled at least once. She jumped up from the desk and disappeared to the back kitchen every time some one was in the lounge. Had the feeling she was a nice person but a bit afraid of messing up.
Housekeeping was fantastic. We travel a lot and the Breakers housekeeping staff is the best.
Had to pop into Guest Services near the main entrance one day. The lady in front of me was furious because a seagull left an unpleasant souvenir on her hair and it did not smell good. I gather she wanted Guest Services to get rid of the seagulls.
Ok, I am a 65 year old lady who has been visiting the point since 1948. The poor gal working the desk deserves a medal for how well she handled this problem explaining that the seagulls were a natural part of being on the lake and that there really wasn't anything the park could do. She had to keep a straight face while seeing me about to bust my gut laughing which wasn't making her job any easier. Congrats to the employee on doing a great job.
It was a great trip. Our Platinum Passes are ready for our next adventure.
1948? What a wonderful life experience it must have been to see the transformation of the Point from your first visit until today. I would love to hear your experiences and thoughts on the changes. What you love, what you hate, what you miss and what you think of the transitions of the park. How about the new changes of to the front entrance...you saw the "change" in the late 50's of the front entrance and now the 60 years later the "Gatekeeper" front entrance. Do tell!
Cedar Point guest since 1974
i couldnt get over how much has changed in 3 years!!! Wow! Ive also seen some older photos of the park and you cant tell its the same. So much has changed over the years!
@KTbee- You know i noticed that A LOT as well, no one smiled. Tried to crack a small joke and nothing...
My biggest regret was the opening of the causeway. We had always gone to the Point in my uncles (two uncles) boats and I loved boats. We spent most of our time at the beach or in the picnic grove. I was always a chicken when it came to rides but would spend lots of time in the penny arcade. This was long before parks were closed off with one price admission. I hope they never destroy the Midway. It is like going home again.
My aunt worked at the Breakers while in college before WWII. Her future husband had been the Cedar Point postmaster. Yes, the Point had its own postmaster back then.
