Just a theory...

Has anyone seen any parts for Xtreme Swing in the Valley Fair parking lot? You would think that they would have the parts there already if construction has started. Cedar Point already has parts and they havent even started building yet. Someone pointed out in another thread that there was a sticker addressed to Valley Fair under the sticker addressed to Cedar Point on one of the boxes in the parking lot. Could this just be a huge hoax? I know it seems a little far fetched but what if Cedar Point wasnt getting a swing after all. It makes sense when you think about it. Cedar Point just got a very similar ride the year before. Why would they build the same ride in two of their parks at the same time? Why would they announce Xtreme Swing at Valley Fair and then put parts that everyone knows are for a swing at Cedar Point while not announcing anything there? Call me crazy if you want but part of me would not be surprised at all if they were playing some kind of trick on us.

S&S Had a special of Buy one get one at equal or lesser value free.

Why on earth would they ship things through Sandusky from Utah to Shakopee? To play a big prank? That's an awfully expensive prank, considering freight rates and fuel surcharges. What does it accomplish other than to piss off a bunch of enthusiasts and others alike?

You are crazy.

Crazy, yes. But I would still like to know if parts have started showing up at VF. I realize the far-fetchedness of the theory, but I also realize that there are many things we couldn't know about regarding the plans for each park. Who knows?

So, does anyone know if parts for the SS have arrived at VF yet?

Brandon

Im saying maybe they just shiped the top piece of the swing (not tons of parts) because they knew enthusiasts would think they knew what was going on. I can't speak for you guys but i know I wouldn't be pissed if they tried to play a prank, I would give Cedar Point a pat on the back.

djDaemon's avatar

Matt, while that makes (some) sense, I would think that there would have to be other reasons for the piece to be at CP. Its not likely that they would be worried about a few enthusiasts. Especially when you consider how much money it costs to ship things these days.

To tell you the truth, I think it's hilarious if that thing under the tarp was going to Valleyfair! Park officials are probably laughing at all those idiots standing around that area of parts and taking pictures! I bet if a piece of crap was laying on the ground, people would take pictures of that too! lol

But seriously, those pieces in the Soak City lot would have to be for CP.

Enthusiasts think too highly of themselves. As if a publicly traded partnership, which owns and operates seven amusement parks and five water parks, would spend the money to trick a couple of geeks.

And those silly Russians fell for it, too.

The only thing I can think of that would cause this sort of situation, would be that VF didn't have room to store it (for whatever reason), WoF couldn't because they already have Patriot stuff in the way, MA has Grand Rapids stuff in the way so they brought it to CP who really does have an abundance of parking lot space available for storage.

I'm not sure what would cause this to be the case (parking lot resurfacing at VF?) but it COULD be the case. I'd have to side with Walt that this is not just to prank a bunch of enthusiasts, that just happens to be a by-product of the necessary course.

The thing I find a little wierd is that VF already started there construction on their SS. Why hasen't CP?

Does anyone know why CP start so late and VF so early?

Valleyfair's closing day was September 24th. That might have something to do with it.

We'll know a lot more next week, I'm sure.

Brandon

Im sure Minnesota winters have something to do with VF getting a jump on things earlier too.

Or maybe the fact that their attendance is lower, their draw is smaller, and their attractions aren't as spectacular as Cedar Point, thus they don't have a need to be open as long as CP.

Didn't they have to remove a ride?

I believe it was a falling star type ride. I doubt that's too hard to remove.

Speaking of which, the falling star is still one of my favorite flats. It's an understandable removal, however, as there is one at the Mall of America.

Yeah, the ride was called Northern Lights.

I don't think the next ride is an xtreme swing. It is kind of hard to imagine that Cedar Point is going to put in another flat ride so similar to Maxair. My guess (even though the chances are low) is that CP had to store the pieces in the parking lot. Because of that, they decided to through in a little prank. Think about it, they already tried to throw in a few pranks (september 9, dirt covered 2006 plans).

As of October 30, 2005, I have rode EVERY thrill ride at cedar point! Begining with the Raptor and ending with the Demon Drop.

It's highly unlikely. Why there was an address to VF I don’t know, but I (and many others) don’t think that this is all just a prank. Yes it is a bit suspicious, but it’s probably just some sort of a mistake.

5 days until the announcement!! *** Edited 10/27/2005 10:14:54 PM UTC by TTD 120mph***

The probable thing is that a dock worker or someone put the wrong label on so put another one. I'm sure it's not much more complex than that. Or that the said item was packaged together, and went to Shakopee first, then to CP.

My guess it's just a mistake. Ever tried to peel a shipping label off before? ;)
