Hey guys! New to the forum and will be taking my first trip to CP this Saturday. Just had a few questions you all may be able to help me with.
1.) How have things been going this season as far as Top Thrill Dragster is concerned? Has it been running fairly well this year? I've seen a lot of disappointment due to the ride being down, but most of those threads were fairly dated.
2.) How much do the on-ride pictures usually run? I would like to get souvenirs of me and my friends all making funny faces on the first drop of the corkscrew, that is if we can handle the whopping 55 mph free fall. :)
3.) We plan on arriving a little later so we can stay after sunset and maybe catch a ride in the dark. Which rides are usually open, and which would anyone recommend over the other?
That's all I can think of right now. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
1) Not sure. It went down the one time I was waiting in line for it. It's still a piece in my opinion. ;)
2) $10. Corkscrew does not have an on ride photo.
3) They should be all be open, but check the weather. It's going to rain big time Saturday and most likely a round of severe storms.
I've been watching the weather pretty closely, and I would expect maybe 10-15 minute spot storms here or there. Of course, it could change drastically in the next couple days.
We don't mind getting rained on a bit, especially if it cuts down on usual park attendance like another thread around these parts suggests.
Good to know about no on ride photos on corkscrew. I won't be cramming my finger in my nose needlessly now. That's actually kind of a shame though, because I would imagine that ride would be a lot of kids first. My first was the double loop at Geauga Lake and the photos of that would have been hilarious.
Anyways, thanks for the help buddy.
As for Top Thrill Dragster, I have been to the park 6 times so far and out of the 6 times I have been there it has only gone down twice for VERY short periods of time! I think this is a good year for it so far. I have witnessed more downtime with Maverick and Millennium Force than I have with Dragster.

If you put your finger in your nose in between elements on an Arrow coaster...well, you're braver than me.
The path you tread is narrow, and the drop is sheer and very high.
Keep in mind also that a number of rides close early for the Summer Spectacular light show (which begins nightly at 10:00). CP&LE Railroad closes early, as does Wildcat, and I believe (but not certain) Iron Dragon. Anyone want to verify that?
