June 17th-TTD Ride Night

To anyone that didn't end up going...you didn't miss much. Everyone pretty much got one ride in before it broke down. Down for about 20 minutes before they sent another train. It went over, but then the E-Stop lights started blinking again. Tony announced that they were postponing it until this Tuesday, the 24th.

Oh well, one ride I wouldn't have normally gotten.

I guess you can't win them all. I wasn't so mad that I didn't get to ride, I was just more upset that I had to work at 9 the next morning and stood around for an extra hour when I could have been on the two hour drive home. Oh well I'll be back for Magnum's ERT, I doubt though that it will be necessary because it's almost always like ERT before noon or after 8.

*Edit - I just looked at the Point Perks page at cp.com and it seems as though they changed the August 24 Magnum ERT to Maverick. When the announcement was made of what the perks would be I wrote all of the ERT days on my calendar, so unless I misread it the first time, the August 24 is now another Maverick ERT night. I wonder why there is no Raptor night.

**Edit - I just looked at the original PDF for point perks and August 24 was indeed originally a Magnum ERT night. I guess they changed it because the ride doesn't usually have a long enough line to warrant an ERT on it. I would have rather they switched it to Raptor.

I noticed the change too this afternoon. I hope it's a typo. Afraid it's probably not, which is sad.

Nope, it's correct, it will be Maverick on August 24th.

I too was sad since that's my birthday and was really hoping for some great rides on Maggie as a present. :(

C'mon... if you're here, and you have a PP, you shouldn't need Magnum ERT. If you do, then you're doing it wrong.

Trust me... Magnum ERT was great last year. We didn't even have enough to fill all 3 trains, so after making us go around to the entrance once, they just let us sit in our seats for the rest of the time while they kept dispatching the trains. I had 15 rides in the one hour.

With as many people as they have coming out to the Point Perks nights this year, I am not surprised that they have switched it to Maverick. They want more guests in the park, and Maverick will bring many more than Magnum.

Yeah, but Magnum will eat people faster. :) And get me and Matt to show up.

Oh, don't get me wrong - I'd love me some Magnum ERT. I just think its far more valuable to have ERT on Maverick.

I, too, would prefer Magnum ERT, but I am planning on making the day after the Buyout weekend my personal ERT ;)

Just out of curiosity I sent an email to the park inquiring about the switch and I got a personal response from Tony.

Dear Vince,

Due to frequent requests from Platinum Passholders, we switched the ride night on Aug. 24 to Maverick. Last year’s Magnum ride night was not as popular as Maverick’s, so that also affected the decision.

Raptor has been considered, but we do rely on feedback from our ride nights, and Raptor has never been a top request. However, we may bring it into the mix in 2009.
