It almost opened today 6/7 but then it FAILED Its

Today sometime after 11:15am they started running Trains (all except Yellow) and told people that it would be opening shortly. They had the crew on the loading platform and a Security guard inside to direct the line once they got the all clear. A huge line gathered in front of the fence and they were even playing the Safety Recording and bla bla bla for all the people waiting in line. After about 45min of testing The Purple train launched Very slowly. It made it about 50 feet down the track and then stopped. The hydraulics started popping up and down quite fast after this as the train just sat in front of the stands. Aprox. 10min after that they came on the speaker and said, "TTD Will NOT be opening AT ALL today" A sliver tag employee also came out and told people that it was on its last phase of testing and something Failed. He did not say what but looked very Aggravated. There would be no chance it opened at all today and would most likely be shut down tomorrow. Not so long after that a stranger asked a Ride op on the stand what was wrong and all he said was "Major Ride Failure, its not going to open" Im only posting this because it kind of goes against what someone said about them waiting for parts to fix this thing. Take it for what it's worth.

BTW, When did they take the rear spoiler off? I knwo they removed the tires and engine but the picture i have here shows it running with the rear Spoiler?

Damn. I hope this is not a huge failure. I hope the ride won't be closed down for months because of this. I'm praying for the best.
I saw the first launch as I was leaving my hotel today. I almost went in (season pass) and got in line. I'm glad I didn't. :D

Does anyone know what's wrong or when it should be up and running? (I know its a good stab in the dark to guess).
Thats exactly what I did. I saw the ride run from the hotel room. Figured Id go try and get on it before I head back home to Chicago. I waited in line, but the only Thrill I got was a Top Thrill Sunburn.

Well, this really sucks. Driving eight hours into Sandusky tomorrow and then hitting the Point on Monday and Tuesday. I'd only be slightly irked if it wasn't opened Monday (hey, it IS Cedar Point after all -- they have more than one good ride!), but if it's not opened Tuesday... sigh... I guess that I'll just call off work for the remainder of the week because I refuse to return home before riding Dragster. (Yes, this is childish, but hey, what's life if you can't be a kid once in a while?)
I went with my class and discovered Dragster was closed. I can't believe I missed the purple stop mid-launch. I was disapointed but I 5/23 and rode it then. The rest of my class was kind of mad at me for riding it :)

CP Coaster Guide
Top Thrill Dragster, the tallest, fastest, and the greatest coaster ever!

Well, I was concerned about my trip on 6/3 and 6/4. I was afraid that it would be shut down. So I called the CP Hotline and asked them why it has alot of down time... The operator said Its the firs ride of its kind so when ever there is a minor problem they have to besure it is safe. When I went on 6/3 We were able to ride it twice, the wait was only a half hour...WOW. 6/4 it was closed most of the day. When thay staryed to test it later in the day, it was funny to watch 100's of people sprint down the midway...LOL. IT NEVER OPENED...LOL.

I hve to say that TTD Is the most intence ride I have riddem, I WANT MORE

Grrr....Hopefully they are atleast testing on Sunday. TTD adds so much atmosphere!

Yeah, I was there too. My dad thought there was a fire, but then he saw TTD testing. It was funny because then the ride op said it would be opening and everyone cheered. Then the line never opened. I left, then 3 hours later, with the ride still closed, I saw the same people waiting there, that were there three hours later.

3 TTD rides in 2 hours!

Yeah, I saw the same thing happen on Thursday. They only tested it 5 times. The first time it cleared the hill. The second time it reached the top and then rolled back down. The third and forth times it worked fine. The fifth time it completely misfired and rolled about 40 or 50 feet. I'm gonna go back in a few weeks if they get it fixed by then. I'm not going back until it is fixed.
Good. Don't go back. That'll teach Cedar Point to never have a breakdown...
I got a new name for TTD, "Top Broke Dragster, The most unoperable coaster in the world".
wow how funny! no wait no your not, TTD in not the most unoperable coaster in the world it is the tallest and fastest coaster, and it is having problems, better now then in July and August!

No, this is THE wrong time for it to break down. I'm going later this month and I need it up ASAP!

and it will be there for years to come. i thought i wasn't going to get a ride on TTD untill late september, if at all this season. honestly you will be let down if you go only because you want to ride TTD, yes you can be upset that it isn't running, but hey even the best have troubles. it is new and it has alot of bugs we knew this would happen when they announced it, yeah we under estimated the down time because it is CP but hey, it very well could be fixed as we speak, It will have problems just like all new coasters. and i am going 4 more times maybe more this month and i want to get on TTD but if i don't it will be there next year. next year probably would be better cause the lines won't be as long!

I was there on 6/6 -6/7 as well. Just a couple things to add. Friday, the ops were being very open in telling people that it was the hydraulic system that was causing problems. That was about as much detail as they would give though. Saturday, they were much more tight lipped. In fact, when the first train launched, and about 200 people immeadiately got in to line. Then two management types carried a sign over to the entrance stating "TTD will NOT be opening today." The crowd then dispersed. We stuck around, rode Magnum and Corkscrew, and saw several more launches. Then the line started forming again. Still tight lipped, they stopped making attempts to prevent a line from forming. The even sent security over to organize the line. Then we saw the crew slowly start trickling in. As more and more of the crew came in, it became evident that there was going to be an attempt to open. The crew on the platform apparently were telling people that it would open soon, although I can't confirm, since I was in line closer to the entrance. They were playing the music / recorded spiel, and everyone was getting pumped. There were 14 successful test runs. All cleared the top, no rollbacks. On 15, the purple train just sputtered out and went nowhere. Most folks in line realized what this meant, but in denial we stuck around a little longer until a live announcement was made that TTD would not be opening today. They never said it would. But for about an hour, everyone in the park thought it would. It was quite exiting, but finshed with a big letdown. The employees seemed to be feeling just as bad about it as everyone else. So that's my Dragster story. I live in Cincinnati, and don't plan to be back to CP at least until HallowWeekends, when I'm sure (ok, highly optimistic at least) that I will finally get to ride Dragster.

I didn't say I wasn't going back. I said I wasn't going back UNTIL TTD is fixed. I'll be up there as soon as it is working, but not until.

6/8- I went today, it was a bad day to go. It rained and poured. Earlier in the day it was sunny and clear and I did not see one launch for the TTD. I am greatly disappointed with Cedar Point because it seems like there is always a ride down for some reason. Not just the TTD but classic ones as well. In my opinion Cedar Point needs to get its act together and straighten everything up or it will lose its rep. for best park in the world.
