Isn't Blue Streak an antique?

In a recent email to the park's customer relations people, I complained about the removal of Space Spiral, or Thread The Needle, and Disaster Transport.
I was rudely informed that Cedar Point is a business, not a museum.
Well, then when is Blue Streak scheduled to be demolished?
It must take a lot to maintain that ancient pile of lumber!

The ancient pile of lumber has been updated (90's) and is also not in the way of a major new attraction. Plenty of people ride it and it likely takes no more effort to maintain than any other coaster in the park. As a park known for its coasters it makes good business sense for Cedar Point to have a classic out and back style woodie.

Dude why you are so worried about it? You are that heartbroken because the park took out two VERY outdated attractions to make way for something that will actually bring new guest to the point? It's time to move on little buddy, times change you can either change with it, or stay in past.

Space Spiral and Disaster Transport weren't just maintenance nightmares, they both had low ridership. Blue Streak is a thrilling roller coaster that, unlike Disaster Transport, still stands to roller coaster standers today. It provides speed and great air time. Its also not a huge eye sore and guest don't complain about it like most guests complained about DT.

Dont get me wrong, I miss both rides. However, we did get a great roller coaster in their place. Gatekeeper is a "keeper" ;)

At the end of the day its about making the most people happy. The roller coaster business is a complicated one, because a park could send $25 million for a ride people hate. You cant make everyone happy. The goal is to make as may people happy as possible. There may be a time we see Blue Streak bit the dust. There will be a day we see TTD, Magnum, The Force and Maverick razed too, but this is just progress and change is good.

From what I understand, the majority of the wood on a properly maintained coaster is less than ten years old.

I miss both rides too, but understand the need for their removal. Lots of money would've needed to have been put in to both in order for them to run smoothly. If they had higher ridership, than maybe it would've been worth it. But the last several times I rode Space Spiral, it was just me and my friends on it.

Blue Streak isn't any type of Antique. It was installed in 1964. Its 4 years younger than I am.

Notice that bobby79 didn't include the actual email from Cedar Point itself.... I would bet it had a different tone than what was presented here.

I don't know why we continue to give this troll attention. As I've said before, this is the same idiot who thought that Windseeker was made from Space Spiral's tower... and complained that Cedar Point was "flying the American flag backwards" when the wind was blowing.
