Is U.R. Dade wasted space?

Correct me if I'm wrong, but other than for Halloweekends, this building just gets used for storage most of the year right? I hope that a few bux from the 21 million will be used to clean up this building. Otherwise I think it will detract from Maverick.

Personaly I remember loving to ride the Carousel there. I was young so I don't remember it too well though. Other than redundancy, was there another reason they got rid of it? If Undertaker U. started in 1997 along with Halloweekends, did the building get used for anything in 1995 or 1996 after it's closing in 1994?

I think in the long term revitalization of Frontier Town, this area of the park would be better served if the building was used for something year round. Or another option would be to tear it down and make it the location of the next Flat Ride.

Just My 2 Cents.

I Jump^2 from Huss would go well there. I would like it more then a TopSpin.

If I had looked through my park maps prior to posting I would have known that the building was used in at least the first 2 Halloweekends as "Eerie Manor"

From everyone on the CP&LE, RIP Mayor Scott...~

I think that Dade is supposed to be a pun of dead. If you say it out loud you can kind of hear it.

You are dead maybe?? LOL!! Come on people.

Yes, I think its a huge waste of space. But, since Huss is bankrupt, can you even buy rides from them anymore?

Yes, HUSS is still operable, and they have an alternate business setup ready to go just in case the current one falls through. I forget the details right now, and I'm not going to bother looking them up because I'm going to sleep in a few minutes, but I do remember that they are still at this point, open for business.

I always assumed it would be torn down in conjuction with P2007, I even thought that Frontier Inn may be on that list but I guess not. Both buildings are right in front of the lift hill and seem like clutter.

At first I thought a flat would look good there but then I looked again. Go to the Maverick website and check out the artist rendering arial shot. Skyhawk and Maxair, for example are 103' and 84'. They are rather large. A flat ride of that height range right next to a 105' lift hill wouldn't look right.

Yeah, c'mon people think about it a little harder. U.R. Dade is You Are Dead.

The carousel that was in that building went to another park, Dorney maybe. The carousel needs to come back, they should have bought a new model with fiberglass horses for the other park. It was always a beautiful setting for a carousel.

I believe the building had some tables and chairs in there for eating. The carousel was supposed to be haunted. I personally wish they would have left it for that aspect alone. I think they removed it strictly because Dorney Park needed a carousel and Cedar Fair felt it was a better idea to rebuild it at Dorney Park than to spend money on a new one. It looks like Cedar Point is leaning toward removing duplicate rides. I always preferred the Dodgem ride where Dragster currently is because it was not so busy. Now if you want to ride on bumper cars, you're forced to wait in an extra long line for the one in the front of the park. I always thought having duplicate rides in different parts of the park meant higher capacity as far as getting on particular types of rides. I think the kiddyland carousel will eventually meet the same fate.

I am 90% sure that they building stores most of the sets for Halloweekends, and U.R. Dade stays installed all year, but with even all that there still seems to be alot of room inside. Does anyone know what else is stored there, or if they use it for anything else? A second workshop for maintance, or the graphic department maybe.

I completely agree Jason. One of my first thoughts when I saw the Maverick animation was it's a shame that crummy building is blocking the view of this beauty. Tear it down and put a topple tower there...and make Werewolf Canyon better and longer.

A good observation. I agree 100% that it either needs to be re-converted into a carosuel, which would look fabulous back there, or used for something else. I prefer Eerie Manor over UR Dade anyway, as other than Werewolf Canyon, it is my least favorite Halloweekends attraction each year.

Promoter of fog.

I would guess they leave most of the Halloweekend stuff up in there. I know that the Disaster Transport "Haunted" Attraction as well as the storage building behind Blue Streak keep most of the "set" as it was the last day of Halloweekends. If guests don't see it, it doesn't really change much. There is somewhat of a storage problem for stuff at Cedar Point itself, so space like that is at a premium.

As far as changing it, I'd be surprised if they alter it just for Maverick, unless they have bigger plans for some kind of new Frontier Town, it seems like most things are not changed unless they are directly related to the ride. Now, if they find that all these people hanging out at the back of the park don't have a big enough restroom, Hot Dogs, Maverick shirts, or anything else to buy - they might think about remodeling (Or pushing out some more carts).

Beware the Kraken

Now there's going to be a "Cedar Point is out of storage space!" thread started every two weeks, isn't there? ;)

I've seen the entire Thunder Canyon queue fill up for Undertaker U. so it must be a popular house. It would be nice tho if that building or area could be used for something else the rest of the year.

Dorney was in sore need of a carousel, having operated for years without one. Their previous rides were all damaged by fires, either in the park or in storage. Knowing their luck I was nervous when our beautiful machine was moved there- so far so good, though!

In May I was told by a Food Service manager that the Frontier Inn would be staying and will, like the old days, serve fried chicken next year. (Cross your fingers and say a prayer along with me for Mrs.Knotts!) I was glad for the news. One, with increased traffic next year in Frontier Town, Chuck Wagon alone won't cut it- another dinner-style offering will be necessary. Two, I love fried chicken. And three, I felt assured that the 2007 project would stay in the WWL area and not bother the other Frontier Town rides and attractions.

Remove U.R. Dade from the building, re-open it up so it's not fully enclosed and you have a BBQ chicken patio. Long live the chicken BBQ!

Only reasonable solution I can come up with.

I remember when the merry-go-round was taken out, the space was used for seating. It was nice and quite back there.
