I know you guys are sick of hearing this question probably, but I just want a quick opinion.
I have been in the marines for the past 4 years and even though I live about an hour away from CP I haven't been able to go.
After reading the FAQ's as well as comments on the board I have decided to go September 24, 2006.
This is a Sunday(the FAQ says it's the best day to go), it's also a day the park closes at 8 pm which is supposed to be another indication that there will be less people.
That being said, It is the starting weekend of Halloweekends. Would something like that draw more crowds then normal? I wasn't sure if people would care or not considering it is suppose to be a Halloween type thing with a week still left in Oct.
Just wondering what you guys think and whether I should move it up or back one sunday? Thanks alot for any and all help!
Oh yeah, I meant to ask, what are some of the best places to eat at CP that aren't sit down/waiter or cart? Thanks!
No one can predict. However, remember that the fright zones don't run on Sunday's (except Columbus Day weekend). And in my experience, Sunday's usually aren't too bad. The good news is that the haunted houses ARE open, so you'll have those as options and they'll draw some crowd away from rides.
I say, just go and have fun. There is no way you can go wrong.
Goodbye MrScott

I think you'll be fine. You did your homework, which alone puts you one step ahead of most people. Saturday evenings are the big draw for the HalloWeekends crowd.
Like John said, no one can predict the future, but you won't have any problems. Even on the busiest days in July, a little common sense will go a long way. Get there before the park opens, hit Millennium Force or Dragster first, and then work from back to front.
I've found myself making The Round Up a favorite for quick service this year. Happy Friar and Coasters are perennial top picks.
