Definitely! You've never seen a face so sad as when I told my 9 year old cousin that we wouldn't be able to ride this year. It's her favorite. We've been going every year as a family for 20 years, with at least 9 kids in tow(now ages 7-19) and Disaster Transport has always been a great stepping stone for newly-old-enough coaster riders as they grew up. It's one thing for the kids to take on the mild ones like Iron Dragon, Cedar Creek Mine Ride, and Blue Streak, but Disaster Transport (being just as mild, but with the added effect of being in the dark) was always a fool proof way to up the ante a little without scaring them to death. The truth is they get bored and want to try something a little more daring, but are still too scared (or short) to tackle the monsters.
Yes, the theming sucked and overall maintenance of the ride has gone steadily downhill for years. But I think us coaster enthusiasts really tend to underestimate the value of rides like DT. We want record breakers every time they build a new coaster, but honestly, if Cedar Fair decides to put in a transitional coaster for the in-betweeners, I wouldn't be disappointed at all.
I'll miss DT. I never really understood the hate it got.
