Is there a third B&M coming to CP?

This is just what I am thinking. I am probably wrong, but, I think I remember that when B&M builds coasters for parks, sometimes they have the park sign 3 coaster deals. Now here's my question. Since Raptor was built by B&M, and Mantis was built by B&M, Could CP maybe have signed a hush-hush deal with B&M for 3 rollercoasters?

There is no 3-ride deal and there never has been. That's one of the rumors that won't die.

LOL, Jeff hates it when people say CP has a contract for more than one coaster.
Why would any park do that. as fast as coaster technology is, company B could come along and blow company A away. While CP is stuck with company A. Bad thing to do.

BTW- I like the GTTP shirt.

Welcome back Millennium Force riders...We all want to know how was your RIDE!!!!!
I don't know much about this, so correct me if i'm worng, but doesn't it take several years to fully plan a coaster, so CP may already be planning the next one?

I'm sure the next coaster is final, or very nearly final. Remember that track for MF arrived in Sandusky as early as December 1998 (we just didn't know it).

And the railroad tracks moving 10 feet was a dead give away.:)

Rally it was at Cp in 98? I never knew that or saw it for that matter! Was it in the bone-yard?

Yeah it was in the bone yard.
In the Lorain Morning Journal in the article about Cedar Point announcing Millennium Force, Janice Lifke-Witherow said that planning and design is already working with Intamin on a coaster with the most turns and inversions.

The article did NOT say who they were working with, and all Janice said (taken out of context) is that they were "always" working on the next ride to "flip you upside down and around" or something of that nature. She didn't reveal anything specific.

Well that is enough of a teaser for me! ;)

I was sure it said the highest and fastest looping coaster.
I realy hope its a B&M, they are my favorite makers of coasters, Mantis and Raptor are just awsome. They are smooth, flowing, and I love the roar.

An excerpt of that article...:

"While Cedar Point's tallest and fastest has yet to be constructed, designers are already tackling the demands of the next coaster, Ms. Lifke said. However, she declined to give details.

'We're already working on designing and developing the biggest and best, that flips and turns you the most,' she said..."

Maybe it was taken out of context, but that's what she said. She didn't say "always," Jeff, she said "already."

While that doesn't say *too* much, I wouldn't be surprised at all if the "next big thing" at the Po!nt was a megalooper. *** This post was edited by DaBull on 4/27/2000. ***

Well, whatever the article said, it was not the context that Janice intended (because I asked her). I doubt she even knew at the time what the next big thing is. The PR staff learns about this stuff on a need-to-know basis, and apparently they don't need to know until a few months before an announcement.

I have noticed a trend in CP coasters. It is probably just coincidence, but it seems they build from one company all at one time then, that's it. Like with Arrow, B&M, and Schwarzkopf. Cedar Point gets them while they are small, they get to big, then you will get one last BIG coaster at the point and nothing else. This theory has led me to believe that the next (steel) coaster will either be Intemin or (more likely) Vekoma. Of course that is just a theory.
Magnum Is Sinking, are you saying that we have seen the last of the BIG coasters, if so I doubt it.

I think it has more to do with cost than anything else. Keep in mind that Arrow was the only major player in Cedar Point's "Arrow Era." It seems most parks have at least one Arrow coaster.
