Perhaps this will answer your question:
2001 Cedar Point news release - Distributed Dec. 5, 2000 - For Immediate Release
CEDAR POINT AWARDED FOUR NO. 1 RATINGS, INCLUDING "FAVORITE AMUSEMENT/THEME PARK," IN POPULAR ONLINE AMUSEMENT PARK POLL
SANDUSKY, Ohio, Dec. 5, 2000 -- Cedar Point, the historic amusement park/resort and professed thrill ride capital of the world, recently received a total of four No. 1 ratings, including "Favorite Amusement/Theme Park," in a popular online amusement park Reader's Poll conducted by www.thrillride.com (ThrillRide!), "the Internet's scream machine magazine." Cedar Point also placed among the Top 10 in seven of ThrillRide!'s nine qualifying categories.

(There is another page and a half, but you get the general idea. I suspect that the text may be available on Cedar Point's web site, http://www.cedarpoint.com as if you didn't already know.)
(I think I have Bryan Edwards to thank for sending me a copy of the press release.)

Their Rumors/News section is far from being creditable...so what does that tell us about the rest of the site including their poll...

Vince, that was a low blow. Their is a BIG diclaimer at the top of the Rumors site anywayz. And I am sure the rest of that site is very authentic and trustworthy!

"Your obssesed w/ that place aren't you?"
Polls are, quite simply, popularity contests. And CP's popularity has always been high; and all the more in 2000 due to MF. That's why they dropped $25 million on the project; to increase popularity, or advertise, to bring more people to the park. And there are not many better ways of advertising than being ranked #1 in a popular poll.

I'm sure CP is VERY happy with the thrillride poll. And so should all fans of CP. Not because of the poll itself, but the fact that the success of the park should help pave the way for the next big attraction at our favorite place on Earth.
Bryan's the greatest, Dave!! THANKS BRYAN!!!!!!!!!!
