I know it's kind of early to tell but how is the attendance on the weekends so far? Has the parking lot at least been 1/2 to 3/4ths full?
I'm really hoping the best for GL this season!!
We are going up to CP for the week but will probably hit GL in two weeks.
Well... let me put it to you in this sense. Besides you, no one has posted in the GL forum for 11 days. And in a recent trip report, Skeptic555 went and had a train all to him/her self on Raging Wolf Bobs, Dominator, Villian, and Thunderhawk, and only shared a train with a few people each time on Xflight. So the ad campaign working? I am thinking that it is not.
But, as you said, it is still a little early to tell. *** Edited 5/22/2005 1:38:14 PM UTC by nesdude***
I don't think it's possible to know before the new waterpark opens. The commercial is better than the one with they guy and his family in his car last year. It shows the offerings of the park very effectively and for $24.95, I think that park should be one of the best bargains to be had. It's going to take some time to get people to come back though after the years of changing names, changing offerings, and poor customer service. If they deliver what CF has shown they can deliver at their other parks, I think people will come back over time. From what I've heard, Dorney had a rough start under CF as well.

When the water park opens, I plan on giving GL a try. I've been there once when it was SFWOA, and honestly the park wasn't half bad...everything was open and the crews were decent. If it was a pretty good park under SF, I'm sure under CF it will be even better.
Cedar Point rocks my socks.
Ad campaign? What ad campaign? Haven't seen one commercial for GL in the Pittsburgh area yet. By this time last year, we had seen the GL commercial so much, we were sick of it. Maybe once the water park opens, they will start advertising around here. We were getting a lot of CP commercials for awhile and even those have tapered off.
I see them both daily to the point of oversaturation. I am in the Cleveland market though so that could be why.
I really hope the best for Geauga Lake this season It is a great park with alot to offer. But I do love going there any not waiting for anything also.

People are starting to show up. Attendance seems higher than last year.
I was there last Saturday and the place was busy. I wouldn't say packed because almost every ride was a walkon, but there were plenty of people on the midways. I believe a band/choir competition was the cause for the larger crowd because there were a whole lotta kids running around dressed in a similar manner. I agree with a previous post - attendance will improve with the waterpark, and the Haunt towards the end of the season.

Time, I hear the day you were there was the biggest day this year by far. Otherwise I think there is disappointment in the numbers but you have to account for the terrible weather that has plagued the area thus far. July and August will be the true test.
If I was planning only one family vacation to the park this year I would certainly wait until the waterpark was open to come. I am assuming the price they are charging now is the same they will charge when Wildwater Kingdom opens?
It only makes sense.

I think they are keeping the price at $19.95 until the waterpark opens in June. After the waterpark opens the price will be $24.95.

I'd rather be in my boat with a drink on the rocks,
than in the drink with a boat on the rocks.
Well Pete, that reinforces the fact that I would wait for the waterpark and pay the extra $5.
I'm sure there are days right now where there are more employees in the park than guests. Those shoulder seasons aren't really adding much to the bottom line these days.

I think so. It's looking good right now but like everyone else said, the true test is the next few weeks.
