The new Halloweekends site went live and they've got a list in their FAQ of what is open when. STR is NOT on the list of stuff open on friday so it is either an oversight or it is included in the "all other rides are open on Sat and Sun" statement. Though it is possible that that information is outdated and was just dropped into the template. So as of now according to that it won't be open friday night.

It seems to me that it will be open... just not necessarily on Fridays. As mentioned above, it was stated earlier in the season that it would remain operable through HalloWeekends. I also think that now that the center row is closed off rather than the back row, the ride isn't nearly the soaker it was earlier in the season. In my opinion, it's a lot more conducive to being open into October with cooler weather now that you don't (at least in my experience) get nearly as wet as you did when it first opened.

Funny to hear that the seemingly high tech soak factor dial is simply roping off a different row of seats. :)
How wet you get from the water cannons pales in comparison to the lap-full of water you used to get riding in the front row... so maybe they'd remain on?
Edit: Besides, I doubt they're going to turn down the chance to make a 25 cents. ;)

I rode StR today with my mom; we sat in the fourth row. The waterfalls and sprayer were running. However, the pay-to-drench cannons were either disabled or simply not being used (I suspect the former, as there was a substantial crowd viewing).
We were moderately soaked as a result, but not what I would call completely drenched. For a day when the high temps in Sandusky flirted with 90, it was about right.
For the record, today we rode Maverick, Millennium Force, Raptor, Magnum, and a slew of smaller coasters and rides. The longest wait for any of those rides, at 30 minutes, was Shoot the Rapids.
Also, I didn't feel the alleged 'bump' on either the first or second drop.

^^ In my younger (and more stupid) days I had multiple rides on Roman Rapids at Busch Gardens Williamsburg in March when it was 50 degrees out.
They did turn off most of the waterfalls (or dialed them way back to a trickle). However even Busch Gardens did not pass up a chance to make 25 cents with their water cannons when it was 50 degrees out, and a direct hit from those cannons SOAK you. :)
