Is our frontier life in CP endangered?

One of my favorite parts of Cedar Point is the stretch between the Millennium Force tunnel and after the pet farm. I think the trees and the old mossy shops are really cool. But now MF is stuck behind it and has taken away from the old feeling a little. Now with more coasters coming eventually, most likely near the back of the park since it has some good space, do you think the frontier life will even more be ruined??

I was wondering that too. CP did a decent job of making the MF part of Frontier Town "fit in" with the rest of the area by making the stone surroundings to the tunnels. But with that part of the park having a lot of space available for rides, I'm thinking they'll eventually have to use it and depending on how creative they are, they might feel that Frontier Town doesn't exist anymore. I hope they don't have to do that. It's one of the coolest parts of the park.

It's not goingto go anywhere... at least.. not next year.. they want to keep that as much like it is now.. THere are plenty of other places to put coasters...

I was a little disappointed when I heard about Millennium Force going in on the Frontier Trail... IMO Millennium Force made the Frontier Trail ten times better... also by moving many of the building because of Millennium Force it forced Cedar Point to redo parts of the trail. I would hate to see Frontier Trail gone... It is what makes Cedar Point more special than any other parks( especially Six Flags World Of Concrete and No Trees). I don't see the Frontier Trail going any time soon.

I think the trail is still a good marketing tool for the Senior and non-riders. I would be surprised if it was eliminated but not surprised if it was invaded some more. It works nicely with Snake River and Thunder Canyon.

Also, it helps set the mood for Halloweekends which I would assume they plan on continuing. My be is it will stay.
I agree, Chief Wahoo -- there are plenty of people that don't ride coasters or anything at all, and the Frontier Trail is a great attraction. I've always been impressed with how well Cedar Point accommodates people of all interests by having something for everyone, whether it be coasters, smaller rides, shopping, entertainment, or the Frontier crafts.

The other attractions that I was disappointed to see go because they did add to that variety were Jungle Larry's and the dolphins/aquarium -- however, I can understand from an economic standpoint why they were removed. Those animals take a tremendous amount of upkeep, whereas the shows are free and not bringing in any further profit. I know that on slow days the Frontier Trail attractions can be deserted (late August I worked a day in the Pottery Shop (Merchandise) and in 8 hours sold all of 4 items...), so perhaps in the future we will see them removed for more profitable ventures, but I don't think anytime soon. There are plenty of other ways Cedar Point can work around the Trail, and I think they'll certainly attempt to do so until the very last moment.

In the past, a number of shops along the Trail have been rented out seasonally to independent ventures, namely the China Shop(same woman has bee there since I was a little kid) and the Craft shops. This way Cedar Point benefits from more diverse product, but at the same time, still gets the rent even if these independent shops don't do well.

That reminds me of how the Amusement Circle used to be with people renting out the area. I guess somethings don't change after all?

I don't think Frontier Trail is going anywhere for now, actually for like 10-15 years I think, but inevitably, it will have to be used to build more coasters because that is the rideless part of the park. But, I do love walking down there in the hot afternoon in all that shade w/ those cool shops!

"Stop worrying about your stupid back, and ride Mean Streak! You bunch of babies!"
It is slowly going away and that is too bad. I was in the Town Hall last Tuesday and Dan and I were talking to Joe about how little there is for older people to do at CP now. As the Trail disappears that will just get worse. Seniors are definately an ignored demo at CP.
I'm not saying that the Frontier Trail is like going to be purposely be taken away or not held up. But rather that it will lose it's touch from more coasters and rides.

With the recent improvements to the trail for Millennium Force, it is my opinion that Cedar Point has shown their long-term commitment to that section of the Park. If CF being the conservative company that they are had other plans, you wouldn't have seen those expenditures.

I should also point out that MF had a relatively major impact on the pedestrian traffic flow of the park. By no means was MF's placement relative to the trail accidental; placement of the MF's entrance was deliberately INSIDE the train tracks. Where people used to take the train back to the midway, walking the trail is now a more viable option, because MF is at its terminal end and it's faster to walk than to wait for the train. More trail traffic equals more revenue for the shops.

I wouldn't be surprised if we DO see another major attracton's entrance off of the trail if the back-filled lagoon land is utilized, though. Nothing more than an entrance, though, similar to the way Paddle Boat Excursions used to be concealed from the main midway. That land combined with the land on the island is MORE than enough to fully contain everything needed for a major attraction, without any further clear-cutting of the trail.

My 20 cents.
