Is Mantis smoother with new paintjob?

As of yesterday (5/23) that section of track had been painted, along with some more of the supports. There are only maybe 2 or 3 supports that have small unpainted patches yet. I saw a bunch of the paint trucks and trailers leaving the Soak City lot yesterday.

"If you're standing in an uncomfortable position, that means you are in the right position because you are riding Mantis!" - Mantis ride op doing spiels on closing day.

Mantis looks 200% better and the ride compares to what it gave back in '99 the first time I rode it.

I think it is a lot smoother than last year, and whether or not the paint has anything to do with it, I'm just glad to be able to ride again with very little headbanging.

Just in case anyone was wondering, in the business section of The Toledo Blade there is an article about the paint firm that painted Mantis, and apparently a few other coasters at Cedar Point. It is in today's (Monday) edition.
