Is Joe Cool worth it?

My wife and I live in Chicago but usually head to the point for about 9 days a year. We usually stay on Cedar Point properties so we get into the park early anyway. Is $15 worth it?

As far as I know, the only thing Joe Cool is good for is to get in a half hour early and a buy one game get one free. Last year they had a lunch for Joe Cool members on Sundays in witch my girlfriend and I really enjoyed but there was never anybody there. I think because nobody ever knew about it. If you are staying at a CP resort everytime then you really don't need a Joe Cool membership since you will already be able to enter the park early.

Here are the 2005 Joe Cool Club offerings: http://www.cedarpoint.com/public/trips/tickets/season_pass_central/articles.cfm?page=Special%20Offers

While the offers have seemed to become less and less each year, I'd say that it is still a good value, even if you just use it to get early admission to the park. I was, however, glad to see that they offered more Joe Cool food discounts this year than they had in the past.

Well by staying on property we get into the park early anyway. But as far as the food discounts go, are they one-time use coupons or can you use them more than once?

Unlimited use for the person pictured on the ID; you just show them your ID. There are no coupons of any sort. Note though that the offers will probably change atleast slightly for 2006. *** Edited 11/6/2005 2:41:02 AM UTC by DBCP***

The only thing I used my JCC for was early entry and on-ride photo discount. Next year I'll get more out of it.
I personally think theyre worth the extra $15....IF you plan on taking advantage of the offers.

It is worth getting for at least 1 person in your group, even if you always stay on property and get the early entry anyway. You get $2 off every ride photo you purchase, along with buy-one-get-one-free games on the Gemeni midway and some discounts on food as well. If your at the park more than 4-5 times during the season, and tend to spend money in the park, it will more than pay for itself.

My personal experience has been that a majority of guests, even those that have a season pass do not really know what a Joe Cool Club membership is. Apparently it was never really explained to them when they bought the pass, but if you can take a minute to read the benefits (see link above), most people will find it worth while between the early entry and the discounts inside the park.

If your going to use it for the listed benefits its cool, but I used mine like twice; therefore I'm not getting it for 2006.

The only reason that I got it last year was so I could get the parking pass on my season pass. This year you do not need it to get the parking pass, so I skipped it.

I only used it a few times for discounts on pins at the speed zone, but not enough to justify paying $15 for it.

what you've just said is one of the most insanely idiotic things I have ever heard.
Everyone in this room is now dumber for having listened to it.
I award you no points, and may God have mercy on your soul.

Wow that is a new one on me. I still thought you needed Joe Cool as always to have a transferrable parking pass. Not true this year however it seems - now that I read the season pass info FAQ page. I already renewed my passes before I knew this, but no big deal I would've bought Joe Cool any way.

I got Joe Cool this summer, and it ended up being a waste. We used it for early entry twice the whole summer and that was it. My friend who I go with and I don't really buy food in the park (sandwiches and pop in the car cooler) or shop for souveneirs. The one time we bought an on-ride photo at TTD, they told us that they didn't do a Joe Cool discount there, and since neither one of us remembered exactly what the benefit list was, we ended up getting ripped off without our $2 discount. Next time I'm able to get a season pass, I think I'll skip the Joe Cool.

It really does depend on your own personal preferences and habits, though.

if you enter through the magnum/resort entrance, it doesnt seem to matter if you have joe cool or a resort pass anyway. if youre with the rest of the herd, you get in early. that has been my experience anyway.

They do place blue gates at the Magnum entrance like they have up front, although that might be a more recent devolopment. I'm not sure when they started doing that.

And then one day you find ten years have got behind you
No one told you when to run, you missed the starting gun

We buy combo passes, so we get comped Joe Cool. I think for our family, if we were paying for it, I'd buy one, but not one for each of us---if we are there early enough for early admission, it's because we were there the night before, and that usually means we were in a CP resort.

I wonder what the early entrance rides will be in 2006, i am sure that MF and sky hawk will be 2 of them. Wonder if Dragster will be on the list too.

I'm sure Dragster will be back to early entrance once it is up and running.

We'll miss you MrScott and Pete
