Is Famous Daves good?

I have been stuck in a rut the last few years at CP. I must confess all I usually eat is Mac's.

Is Famous Dave's a good place? What are they "famous" for and are the prices reasonable?

What other places in CP have awesome food?

My all time favourite place to eat is Coasters! I eat there every time I'm at the Point.

I have eaten at Dave's a couple times. They are famous for their ribs. I must say they are god and the rb tip meal is actually a decent deal.

What does Coasters have? Burgers and other sandwiches?

I remember a few years back when I took the kids to CP we always stopped at this cute little restaurant where East of Chicago is now and it I think was Coasters. It had cute little roller coaster track looking decorations. They had really good kids meals too.

Why did they get rid of it?

The Corkscrew at Michigan Adventures need some decoration for the entrance to the que. (Coaster track)

Coasters is located right near Corkscrew, actually its at a main intersection in the park, at the corner of Main Midway and Dragster Midway. It has burgers, malts, fries, all that good stuff. Its a good place to eat if you just want a quick meal. I should warn you though, it gets insanely busy at lunch and dinner time.

There's some valid opinions in the Trip Report section....

Personally...I prefer the pulled pork and burgers at Famous Dave's over their ribs.

My husband and I tried the ribs at a local one and there was little meat and what was there was way too chewy. Could be the cooks at this particular one just didn't have it together.

Generally speaking, it's a decent place to eat. I'm also fond of Midway Market's buffet.

Famous Dave's is great. Excellent food and a nice atmosphere, especially on the water front patio on a nice sunny and warm day. Great place to slam down a few drinks also.

Coasters is just burgers, fries, soft drinks and milk shakes. Pretty good burgers, but nothing really out of the ordinary.

The best places to eat at CP, in my opinion of course, and in no particular order are:

Famous Dave's - good food, good bar and a nice view.

TGIFridays at the Breakers - TGIFridays food, nice bar but it gets very crowded sometimes. Right on the beach so there is a nice view through the windows. Also has an outdoor patio.

Breakwater Café - decent food and a gorgeous view of the boats coming into Sandusky Bay.

Bay Harbor - A more expensive, more formal atmosphere. Lots of fresh seafood choices.

I was very pleased with all of the sit down restaurants at CP last year. I had very good service on each visit. After occasional spotty service in years past, I think someone in management really put in some effort to get it right last year.

Here, in Roseville, we have a Famous Daves. Now, I have never been to the one, located at the point. Though, the one here is fantastic. The service is good, clean. Also, the ribs are heavenly. I know they have won many awards for them. If the Cedar Point location is a ditto of the one here, I defnately would go there.

Edit: Prices are mid-high. [Like, 10-11 dollars for lunch]

They have good sauces, but come on... it's just bar food. I wouldn't go as far as to call it great. It's certainly better than the crop they serve at some of the quick-service joints in the park, but it's still just bar food.

FD is a typical chain restaurant... decent food though. You have to admit, the place is better than what was in there before, food and atmosphere included, The Boathouse sucked!

Like cedarpointlover, I've been to the Roseville one many times. The food is good, but a few times it could be bad. The atmosphere is cool and the food with the 5 different types of BBQ sauces is neat. It's my favorite restaurant. Though I wouldn't want to eat at the one at CP because it is expensive if you add up the money you spent on the trip to the park itself. I try to pack a small lunch and maybe buy some french fries or an elephant ear at the park. You save a bunch of money that way and you still get to have a great time at the best park.

Famous D's is ok. The food and service is good, but I liked the Boathouse better. They really wrecked the open view to the lake by partitioning the whole place off. Stupid.

I loved Famous Daves. The food was good but the only thing about it is when you are working on MF and you are really really hungry and the smell of Famous Daves blows over there with the wind, Now that bites!

I think that the Boathouse was way better than Famous Daves. But they also had by far the best sauce ever conceived in Montgomery Inn sauce.

They have a Famous Dave's BBQ in North Olmsted, Ohio for a quater of the price of the one at CP. It is good but I will never pay to eat at the one at CP

Is that where the smell comes from? I've been in line for MF many times and smell some great smelling ribs and I never really looked to see where it came from, it always makes me so hungry. I'll have to try it out some time.

I like Famous Dave's and would recommend it, but my favorite place to eat at the park is Johnny Rockets. Sorry Dan!

I'm pretty sure you can still get ribs with the Montgomery Inn sauce at Breakwater.
