Is CP the unloved step child.....

Is CP the unloved step child of cedar fair? There is no capital expenditures for 2009 season at cedar point. Cedar point is one of 2 of CF parks with the latest start date. World of Fun Kansas City, MO already has its pay posted its:

What do you all think

Right...

If you have gone through other posts, a different budget announcement is going to be made for Cedar Point.

Ken, I dont understand what you mean?

He means you posted your question under the wrong forum. In example, a general park question being posted in the Employee Lounge section.

I ment to put it here. I am from Cali worked for knotts when i was in HS and i thought that cedar point was the better park. Now i wonder if other parks are being put ahead of CP.

Yes but this is a forum about employement at the park for where to stay or what to apply for not about whats new or new colors on a ride.

I would like to know how CP people who have worked for more than one season feel about all the changes. I grew up going to Knotts year around and CP during family vacation. I wonder has CP gone down from the workers perspective as they aquire more and properties. I have worked a season and a bit in highschool. I know first hand what has happend in Gilroy after CF took over. The dates open have went down, the employees are not nearly as happy as they were before.

CP being the stepchild is absurd. Cedar Point is the crown jewel of Cedar Fair.

no I don't believe so...hello Cedar Point is the headquarters of Cedar Fair and the top park of them all...though I do like the other parks for their own reason...But heck I'm probably prejudice having lived twenty five miles from the park my whole life and working there going on my fifth season (if you don't count the time I volunteered there in high school for our marching band LOL)....And yes this probably should have been in the CP General Forumn...I understand your reasoning but employees that have been on this site and are returning go to all the forumns and it might have been good to put it there since the employee lounge is a lot of times used by new employees and us returnees helping the newbies out...but this is all in my opinion of course.

Yeah, Cedar Fair hates Cedar Point so much that they built their central office on the peninsula and provide it with top rated coasters every few years. Not to mention the name of the company is derived from Cedar Point itself. I think they care a lot more about Geauga Lake and Michigan's Adventure.

I am not talking about March. I just noticed that other parks owned by cedar fair in the mid west and on the east coast open B4 CP. I also know that many of its other parks already have the pay set for 2009. I wonder why CP has not seeing that the HQ for the company is at CP.

I wonder what the effects are for people that have spent time working at CP as they keep buying more parks. The few people that i know that live in the area full time have different ideas about what buying all the parks is doing to CP. I think when they got Knotts they made it sooo much better than it was before, but when they got the contract to the park in Gilroy its not as good.

I know that i dont live Ohio but I do have tons of family that live there and I spent every summer there til i was 14. I have been there more than Knotts and growing up i lived less than 20 min from knotts.

My guess is that they're relying on the fact that there are CP faithful who will come regardless of improvements and enough people who will come based on reputation to allow them to use this year to spread the wealth a little and put their brand on the former Paramount parks. If they improve draw at satellite parks and grow as a company, it will benefit CP in the long run.

Cedar Point IS opening later... BUT we're also staying open later...we stay open later with our weekends then many of the parks...last year we were open later than King's Island and I'm sure many others.

Also um if Cedar Point is the unloved child of Cedar Fair...how come the president of the company lives on the peninsula, he has about a five-ten minute walk through the parking lot to get to the front gates... Not that this has anything to do with anything but I think its quite funny...

Basically I don't think any of this is affecting any of our feelings on the park we work at. Sure we'd like to know the rate of pay but managers can't even see the applications yet, like last year its going to be another week before they even have a meeting on the system this year. So the apps being up give a chance for those who know for sure they want to go (back)...to apply now and not have to worry about it. Just know it probably won't be until after February begins before managers contact people.

I hate to cast aspersions, especially on a newbie who probably means well, but this may be the most ridiculous premise for a thread I've ever read.

Simply put? Yes, Cedar Point is the unloved step-child of Cedar Fair. We psychologists can see the signs from a mile away...

Only unloved parks get 17 roller coasters. It pretty much says "We hate you, son". As for getting a significant, new ride every few years, that's just plain abuse ;)
