Iron Dragon Mist

At first I thought it was just a fluke, but after seeing it at three park visits this past week, I can hopefully confirm that Iron Dragon mist is back BIG TIME for the 2002 season. Each time I've been there, the mist (or maybe I should say fog) has been turned on so high that you can't even see the entire helix finale from the midway. Part of this is because the entire midway itself is enshrouded by fog from the Dragon. I've managed one ride on ID, and that final swoop into the helix is just awesome...makes me want to ride an otherwise mediocre ride again. Great job CP, and I hope you keep it up this way all summer long!

Signature Under Construction...

It's worth noting that it got very foggy by there last year too when it was cold and damp out. In the morning sometimes when it was still chilly, there was sometimes enough mist to wet the midway right there by power tower. So it might seem like they "turned down the mist" once it gets warmer and some of it is burned off or whatever right away.

I was happy to see the fog back myself. It adds some nice character to that ride. I enjoy it, although I wish it was comparable to Big Bad Wolf @ Busch Gardens Williamsburg. I never thought a ride like that would be so awesome. It is amazing how long the lines are for that ride.

It was great!! On the final turn on ID, the entire train goes through a cloud! I was so happy to see the fog back!

I really think that the mist adds to the ride especailly with that final helix.

"Looks Like I Picked The Wrong Week To Quit Sniffing Glue."

Where does the mist come from? I've always wondered that. Is it clean fresh water misted or is it the nasty green water from the lagoon? I can't even think that it's the water coming from the lagoon. Please someone tell me it is fresh water.......

Get with it or die in the process.....

There are mist machines that pop out of the lagoons.

I want to drive the Zamboni!

Haha Jeff, I have always wondered that myself. After coming out of the mist and physically being coated in it, I can't help but wonder if it's the same giant fish infested water that people spit in! Same goes with taking a shower on Snake River Falls. Perhaps I am wrong but it looks like they take the water for all their water rides out of the lagoon.

On my first ride on the Iron Butterfly, this year, I had to close my eyes because of the mist!

What ever happend to the self control mini boats CP used to have? Cars as well? Those were fun as a kid!

The water from SRF is treated water unlike that of Thunder Canyon or White Water Landing.  However White Water Landing intrigues me because I saw a large container on opening day that had sodium chloride labeled on the side. It was under the lift hill.  But of course the water was green/brown. I do know that the lagoons are untreated to provide a natural habitat to the rat fish, I mean carp them live in them.  I really don't have any idea if they pump in treated water or if that is pressurized lagoon water.  I think that with the difficulties in filtering the water to not plug up the mist nozzles that they must use treated filtered water.
It sure smells like lagoon water...

SRF, if you look at the "pond" that it resides in is surrounded by concrete making it cut off from the rest of the lagoons. Notice no giant man-eating carp in the splash down area...

That makes sense...could you imagine if a swarm of carp were swimming in the path of the boat?? We could be seeing another PP episode.

Thunder Canyon gets its water from Lake Erie. The water is not reused, its taken from the lake fresh every day.

It's very hard to drink all day...
Unless you start first thing in the morning.
