Even though this has no effect on me, I'm sure it will impact many others. This is a really disappointing thing to be hear about. The family attractions just keep disappearing. At least we're getting 2 new ones, but still.
Can someone please ask about this at the Winter Chill Out tomorrow? I'd like to hear from Tony of someone else who works for the park to confirm this, and if so then what the reasoning was for the change.

So I heard Iron Dragon is going down to 2 trains, and is getting seat belts. Anyone else heard this?
If it is getting seatbelts there should be no reason to raise the height limit, not that there's any reason now.
So Millennium Force, Iron Dragon, and the Mine Ride all have the same height requirement of 48 inches?
One of these things is not like the other...
This is a sad discovery in our house, as the 6 year old is just now 46 inches.
To the lolly swing we go!

And the reason why its going to 48 is to be consistent with the rest of the parks.

Well, that seems like a rather odd reason, especially for a park that seems to be moving towards a more family-friendly focus. One would think that if anything they would look into how they could lower the height-requirements on some of their rides.

Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe 2013 was the first year in many that they tried running 3 trains, but one eventually ended up in the maintenance bay under the station.
I haven't seen three train operation for at least two seasons.

I know 2012 was definitely a 3 train operation. However, I can't confirm 2013. I wish it would run 3 trains though, because I heard crew members say it was fun. However, I think extra precautions are being taken on ID for a very certain reason other than "consistency".

My sister and I have an on going joke that we do our "homework" on Iron Dragon. :) It started back when we were both still in highschool, and would go to Cedar Point on class trips. The point to the joke is that ID is so mellow, that you could do your homework or even take a nap while riding it.It's too bad that the company that made Iron Dragon is no longer around. They could make it like 20 feet taller, give it a steeper drop and faster turns through the treetops. The second part of the ride could be left alone because it does have a nice finale.
Last year i sat calmly on Flight Deck at Kings Island, ate crackers and read a book. Wasnt able to read more than a page, being such a short ride.

I know, it is just too complex to have an appropriate ride height vs. the same across the board, why their heads were about ready to explode with it all! We can't deal! Sorry, kids, you lose!

Just wanted to say that If I could, I would nominate this one guy from Iron Dragon. He had everyone in the station pumped up and kept saying "Oh Yeah", "OH Yeah"! I feel like this guy dancing and saying that was the highlight of my day!
That guy was cool. Oh yeah! Oh yeah! Oh yeah!

Iron Dragon was my first "real" coaster as a kid.
I wasn't prepared for it. I think I was seven. Up until that point I'd only ridden the kiddie coasters at the fair.
It got stuck on the second hill. I got so scared and was crying my eyes out.
When the train came back to the station they gave us all a free ride since it got stuck. The ride ops came around and slammed all our restraints back down.
This made me cry harder. Apparently nobody noticed / cared because they shipped the train right on back out the station.
Something happened on that second ride. I realized I'd be ok and I "got it". I've loved roller coasters ever since.
My mom immediately hauled me on Magnum, which was the biggest thing in the park at the time.
The next year we got Raptor. I couldn't wait to ride! It was my favorite for a really long time.
I still ride Iron Dragon. It may not be a great ride, but it brings back memories. :)
The "Oh yeah" guy was fun! He was at the mike from 9:00am to 9:45am on Monday. I have a child who is autistic, 48 1/2" tall, loves Iron Dragon and what he cals the "Blue One" (Blue Streak). The Oh Yeah guy engaged him and slapped high fives. We rode 4 consecutive times & had a great first hour as the crowd was light. At 9:45 they swithed and it was the guy who goes "whoop whoop How was your ride". Some of these young folks make it more entertaining and deserve a commendation.
Thanks
