Zoom in on Cedar Point
Not only does it show the roads around the point but it also shows the main midway and frontier trail. They show up as roads just like any other in town. If you zoom in all the way they even have where the flower planters are on the midway.

That perimeter road can be a confusing thing. Especially if you try to drive where that map is showing you.
Amazing what you can do with a computer to entertain you during the off season. ;)

I don't think those are the flower planters on the midway, but the main drag running down the front parking lot.

I initially thought that might be the old tram way that went up the center of the parking lot, but now I can see that's not the case looking at a TerraServer image.
As for the loop, I'm sure you can find photos and see that the marina gate was actually a road at one time that split the park. I'm sure Pete knows, but I think that was before the park was POP admission.

The road did indeed pass through that part of the park. Guests of the Breakers used that road to get to the hotel. The portion that crossed the midway was lined with red and white striped poles on each side, spaced far enough apart so that park goers could pass through and (carefully!) cross the road, but close enough together so that cars couldn't enter the midway. There was POP at the time, but it was a string and stamp option. General admission was free, and individual ride tickets could be purchased. When the park finally became gated, hotel traffic was redirected on the perimeter road similar to what we know now.
