interesting CP oddities

1. RAPTOR AND MANTIS
Raptor is painted green, when the Mantis should be the green one *AND* The Mantis is the one that goes over water when the effect would be alot better if it were inverted like the Raptor.

2. HEIGHT RECORDS
Millennium Force wasn't the first time CP opened the world's tallest roller coaster 11 years after they did it with Magnum. Magnum broke the record exactly 11 years after Gemini did in 1978!!!!

anyone got something else they'd like to add?
...only that we've talked about the 11 year thing quite a bit last year. But it was nice to bring it back up for the newbies. :)
Interesting that Raptor would debut in 1994, one year after Jurassic Park (movie) was released, making "Raptor" a very recognizable name to a very popular and successful movie, even though one is dinosaurs, the other birds of prey. Quite a good use of name recognition.

A lot of people were never aware of the term "Raptor" until the movie and there are still a fair number who think that it only refers to dinosaurs. I heard say that Raptor's symbol didn't look like the velociraptors from Jurassic Park.

I wonder of the choice of names had something to do with the sudden interest in "Raptor" as a concept back then?
...and there are the people that thinks it's pronounced Rapture...and they don't understand why the ride is the way it is either. Sometimes other people just scare me...:)
here's another one...

The fact that the head of Nagashima Spaland visited the U.S. to get ispiration for STEEL DRAGON 2000 and that Dick Kinzel(CEO of CP) went to Japan to get inspiration for MILLENNIUM FORCE.
Or, more likely, they both appreciate nice boondoggles in foreign countries...

CP fan since 68.
There are people who don't know the name of the park, want to know what ride will be down for matenince next week, wnat info on Six Flags Cedar Point, what to know f that lake is still there, and people who want to know how tall you have to be to ride the Beast at Cedar Point. Now that is scary.
I think the oddest thing at CP is that block of metal right on the beach. It has those numbers written on it. It is totally blocking the view of the lake and it's blocking a great beach! Why is that thing there????

I'm losing control!
In regards to Raptor... the coaster matches the eyes of the "Bird of Prey" on the coaster logo, no? Everytime I ride, I get that old phrase, "a bird's-eye" view... because the ride is supposed to be like you are either A.) flying from the Raptor's talon or B.) you ARE a "Bird of Prey" and are seeing things the way the bird would..... am I just REALLY sleepy or was that intentional?

I don't know if I'm totally correct with this, but at one point didn't CP say that from an aerial view, the track for Mantis roughly resembles a praying mantis?

I don't know from the air, but from the side it kinda could, putting the head at the top of the hill.
