I was just browsing through CP's site and found opportunity for a comparison or two. I know the lack of leaves on the remaining trees and Maverick's landscaping not yet being completed exaggerate this a bit, but you can still see quite a difference.

I'd forgotten how heavily wooded it was back there until I saw this. Also...
The shape of the wave in Pic 2 always reminds me of the banshee/steel force logo in Pic 3.

awwwwwwwwww. Poor trees. Its even more sad when you look at pics from the WWL drop. That area was FULL of trees - and BIG ones at that. Now its just barren sand (with a hot roller coaster too!).
Hopefully they really meant "large trees" when they mentioned that in the construction diary. Starting with large trees means that area will fill back in quicker. I bet Maverick would be even more fun if it was surround by trees like WWL was.
A good comparison would be The Whizzer at Great America in Chicago. It whips back and forth between massive trees now and adds to the sense of speed. When I saw pics of it new, it was just plopped down on a piece of land with no trees around it.
That wave really does look like a banshee heading for all of the people on the bridge.
I remember in WWL's final year I wanted to get some good pictures of it for a special section in my photo album but really had a hard time on account of there being so many trees. When I went to the park for the first time last year and saw the cleared site I couldn't belive the difference. With time the Maverick area will fill in nicely, I'm sure.
We'll miss you MrScott and Pete

Besides, the web cam is deceiving because none of the trees have leaves.
Illegal on-ride photos, eh? :) Yes, I know you were allowed to take photos back then. Or, they at least didn't say you couldn't. LOL!!
For a brand new ride, that actually looks like some pretty healthy landscape. Looks like they attempted to save as many trees on the site as possible instead of just bulldozing them all.
None of the trees in those pictures have leaves either because it looks to be Spring.
Well, the trees may be in full bloom when maverick opens. I don't put much stock into rumors, but I have heard that maverick may not open with the park.
what you've just said is one of the most insanely idiotic things I have ever heard.
Everyone in this room is now dumber for having listened to it.
I award you no points, and may God have mercy on your soul.
As of now, the rumor does not have a valubable source. It is just posted on screamscape uncited.

You'll get over it Randi......once you get off Maverick that is.;)
And if you ever get really upset, you can always walk in the Town Hall Museum and gawk at the WWL model and remember back to good times.:)

And if you still feel depressed, just find TTD 120mph at the park and ask him if you can come over and use his "themed" tiolet. You'll flush your sadness down the hole.
But seriously, yes it is interesting to see all the nice trees from when I was 4.
At the same time, it's also interesting to think how deathly bored I would be at the park if it still looked like that.
Now that's an interesting comparison.
