Just wanted to say that alot of people rip or get down on Intamin about mechanical issues, or how unreliable their rides are. However, I do want to also say that their rides are way more technically advanced than most. They have given Cedar Point some of the best coasters that everybody loves. Their rollercoasters are always cutting edge and using new techniques. Even Z-Force at Six Flags Great America was interestingly different, and that was way back in the day.
Where would Cedar Point be without Millenium, Top Thrill or Maverick?
(By the way, I don't work for Intamin or any other rollercoaster company!)
Some people rip them because they seem to over-engineer things. Maverick and its roll, Pilgrim's Plunge and the elevator system, and all of Shoot the Rapids. All are just over thought compared to B&M, who seem to stick to what they know and what works.
Edit to remove an "r" from "Plunge." Was a funny bathroom mistake. :)
Let's Get Weird.
Has anybody Noticed that intamin has only built one wing rider coaster and B&M have built 4? Intamin built one in 2007 but haven't built one since where B&M are going to have built 4 in 2 years.
Is Intamin just not doing the wing riders or are B&Ms better?
Enjoy the rest of your day at America's Rockin' Roller Coast! Ride On!
Intamin's version had really bad viration on the wings. People said it made the ride really uncomfortable. I guess B&M doesn't have that.http://www.google.com/imgres?q=furius+baco&um=1&hl=en&sa=N&tbm=isch...x=79&ty=79

Intamin always pushes the bar on new types of technology on rides, they have a huge ride portfolio, and almost every Intamin instillation is unique. On the other hand, Intamin's do not have the capacity on their rides like (B&M or MACK) and everything is over designed (what is the point of having hundreds of sensors on TTD?).
I don't know why everyone thinks B&M is so innovative though; they pretty much take someones idea (stand-up, hyper, and inverted coasters to name a few), then they improve it. I wouldn't call that innovative, it is more like giving a design an intervention.

I'm a big fan of Intamin. Their coasters tend to be my favorite. But with that, I also wait just a bit before making the trip hoping to ride one. I learned that well with Millennium Force and those epic 4 hour waits to ride a roller coaster that could potentially break down. Same with Dragster and (insert any Intamin coaster here). I think it's very much give and take. Intamin do some pretty ridiculous and radical things with their roller coasters. But with any new thing, there will be glitches because there is no previous version to help. Once their coasters are up and running, they are fantastic...but getting to that point is the sticker...

I am a big fan as well of Intamin. As the first guy said who created this topic, where would Cedar Point be without the popularity of Top Thrill Dragster, Millennium Force, Maverick, Wicked Twister, Disaster Transport, and Shoot the Rapids? Yes by the way, Disaster Transport is indeed an Intamin roller coaster. Millennium Force happens to be my #1 favorite roller coaster. In my opinion, Intamin and Cedar Point took their time developing Millennium Force and look how popular it has been to Cedar Point. I know Adam(TTD 120) feels the same way with Top Thrill Dragster. :)
In the interest of full disclosure, both Jr. Gemini & Thunder Canyon are both Intamin products.
But in agreement with those above, someone in their design department really needs to hit F7 before they send their blueprints to the printer; the engineering blunders of late have been embarrassingly basic.
Girl: "l want to ride that yellow one again... Twisted Wicker"
Me: "It's a roller coaster, not a broken clothes hamper."
Intamin rides are new and exciting and come with problems.
B&M Rides are Old and Exciting and come problem free.
One tries to vary coasters within the style and has to make changes.
The other uses a tried and true layout and doesn't make changes.
People get mad at Intamin because they get delayed sometimes or most times and for some reason that translates to bad product.

From my point of view, Intamin builds some very exciting and fun rides. Comparing Intamin to B&M, I think Intamin rides pack more of a punch, though I really like both of CP's B&Ms. It is B&M's newer product that I think is a little watered down and somewhat tame.
As far as maintenance issues, I could not care less. Every Intamin at CP has had enough up time that I've had many good rides on it, and that is really all I care about. As a guest, how much effort it takes to keep the things running is not something I need to, or want to, worry about. That is in the hands of CP's very capable maintenance dept. and most time when I want to ride, the ride is working.
So in summary, do I like Intamin? Yes!
I'd rather be in my boat with a drink on the rocks,
than in the drink with a boat on the rocks.
