Intamin VS. Morgan in wheel design

I was wondering about the design differences between the wheels on TTD (and MF since they are the same wheels) and that of DH Morgan and SD2000. The question is why are SD2k's so much bigger? I remember watching the making of SD2000 and they talked alot about the totally different wheel design and how much bigger they needed to be to dissipate heat.

What has Intamin done differently in keeping the wheel size the same small wheel (when compared to SD2K)? I know they changed the materials of the wheels themselves for the CP climate, but I would think there is more to it then that. Something with the bearings maybe. I am pretty sure SD2K's are alot bigger then those Intamin uses, if not nevermind.

I don't know how big the SD2000 wheels are, but for SD2000, Morgan had to go with a completely new chassis design not because of the size of the road wheels, but because of the size of the guide wheels. Remember, Morgan uses the Arrow-style chassis with the guide wheels inboard of the rail, so as the guide wheels get bigger, the amount of space available for those wheels gets tighter and tighter. So for Steel Dragon they put the guide wheels on the outside.

Intamin's design puts the guide wheels on the outside anyway, so however large the Intamin wheels get, there should be plenty of space for them.

I don't know how the wheel sizes compare.

Rideman, just the person I was hoping to get info from. :). I'm going too have to watch the video again sometime and see exactly how big those wheels are.
