Intamin Crews On Site?

Hey gang, I have a quick question. When a company (we'll say Intamin and #16 for this), ships the coaster, and the directions, is that all they do?

I mean is it a detailed blueprint as to what goes where with a swift "Good Luck, Call if you get stuck!"

Or does Intamin send a small crew to "monitor" and help with construction, or does that fall solely on the Park?

Always wondering, and thought Intamin would send some people over to help, but was never 100% sure. Thanks!

I seem to remember that when MF opened, Intamin had people at CP for technical support.

but Ohio has Cedar Point and Put-In-Bay.

ring ring....ring ring...hello, Intamin AG....yes...sir, have you tried reading the directions?.....you have....no, no, support 27 goes on footer 27, not footer 28....yes, it is funny the way that works, isn't it?... Is there anything else I can help you with?....No?.... Okay, enjoy your new coaster, and if you have any more trouble just call us back.
If i can remember correctly, intamin is one of the few companies that send out their own people to monitor construction of their new coasters. I think this was stated on a discovery channel special

Yes, they apparently have field engineers. I know they had one back on site for WT when they started getting the track tie problems earlier this year.

That's what I thought, thanks guys!
Brian, that's pretty funny! ;)

That is interesting, I wonder if any other companies do the same, seems like a real good idea.
Even though their coasters aren't that popular (except maybe the flyers) but Vekoma sends field reps. I remember seeing them at SFWoA for X-Flight.
And you know the field engineers know exactly what is being built. Anyone up for a mugging and interrogation? ;)

Let's just take them to Put-In-Bay and get them drunk. That should spill a few beans!

Put-In-Bay---- If you have ever been there, did any of you ever notice that all the stores sell the same exact stuff at different prices? Wow, that is the biggest tourist trap I have ever seen :)

They shouldn't be hard to find. I met a few of the Intamin guys during my brief stint on WT and I've gotta say they were some of the nicest guys I've ever met. One was even at Louies a few times I believe. Young, but they really knew their stuff. I think it was Manuel who was off to work on V2 when he was done there. Check out one the construction photos with two guys working on the train, I'm pretty sure that was Manuel and Andy.

I rode SOB with a Vekoma engineer on PKI's opening weekend. They were obviously there for TR:TR. They were talking in German and the stuff they were saying was hillarious. "They should call this ride Son Of A B....h" I dont think they have much room to talk though.

Why would a Vekoma engineer be there for a Huss ride?

In computer security, we call this "rubber hose cryptanalysis." It's surprisingly effective. :-)
