They're dated August 7th... We were on the last ride of TTD for the night, and by the time we got off, got stuff out of the lockers, and started walking towards the magnum exit, they already had the door open and crane out ready to work on the Hydraulics. Pretty cool
Wow, I wish I could see that in real life because just in pictures it looks awesome!

Not to sound like a snitch (heck I think those pics are awesome) but I think that these will upset either Intamin or Cedar Point. From my understanding, Intamin doesn't have patens (sp?) on the hydraulics, as to keep others from finding out about the desgin. So according to Janice Witherrow, no one can enter the launch room without permission from Intamin. So my guess is (if I'm even remotly correct with my info and reasoning) these pics will be asked to be removed, or the link to these pics will be gone soon.

Why would they ask me to take them down? You can find pictures of the hydraulic room on the official TTD site in the Construction pictures section:

etc

People over-react sometimes.

They showed the inside of x-cellerator on Extreme Rides and showed how it worked also. I don't think they are overly concerned.
I don't really know, but going from what Janice told me, it sounds like they would get mad. Maybe its just the Cedar Point one they don't want people to see or they don't want people to see it close up, or there are parts inside the building that they don't want to be seen. Like I said before, I'm just going by what Janice said.

Maybe, the parts inside the building is the themeing :) for the trains if there actually is something to be hid.
Correction: The launch system IS patented, which means that the general means of operation is published. In fact, the technical description on Virtual Midway was almost entirely based on the patent drawings and description.

There may be details of the system that they want to keep a lid on, but by definition the patent provides enough information that a person skilled in the art could duplicate the invention. That is, after all, the other reason patents exist!

I seen the hydraulics building when i was there in august. I have to say, Those pictures dont show how huge the hydraulic motor is. I was amazed to see inside the building. I wish i had my camera on me then.

Well, I stand corrected (Iwas just making some assumptions... and you all can what happens when you do that, lol). Still though, why does Intamin have to approve who enters that building? If there isn't anything thing that is secret, why can't anyone who the park wants to go in enter?

Going Inside it, or standing outside looking in is a totally different thing. They dont want you to go inside because its a safety hazard. Looking in is fine, If they didnt want you to see whats inside or taking pictures. They wouldnt leave the door open like that. Intamin doesnt approve who enters the building, CP does. CP could start paid tours of the building if they wanted to.

Yeah. Going inside and Standing outside taking pictures are two different things. Not only could standing in side be dangerous, but i'm sure theres a lot of things the GP could screw up by touching it. Also, they could get in the way.. or injured

Its different when I'm strolling out of the park with my camera and snap a few pictures as I'm walking by with the open door. The mechanic in there didn't seem to care too much.

But, isn't it up to Intamin who enters the building right now? from my understanding, Intamin is still in charge until the end of the season? Could be wrong.

I don't know who can and can't go in there. I do know that Mark speaks the truth wrt. what Janice said about it, as I was there when she said it. :) As to the veracity of the details, I have no idea. She did indicate that they have not been able to take film crews in there, either.

There are lots of reasons they might not be able to take people in there. It could be dangerous. It could be because of proprietary information. It could be because Intamin has not turned control of that space over to the park yet. There are all kinds of possibilities. And to the best of my knowledge, NONE of us is privy to the real answer. Not even Jeff and Walt. :)

Did anyone notice they have used the theming from the trains to turn one of the Halloweekend's hearses into a Dragster hearse? It sits across from TTD's station up against the PT fence.

I know the real answer. It involves the irony that Intamin was ready leave CP hanging out to dry early summer yet demanded that media not be allowed in the building.
