"Inital Launch" of TTD?

Hery all...Basically what I'm asking is this: Does anyone know what the "initial" launch of TTD is? Basically what I mean is how fast you are going after 1 second of the ride...from the dead stop to a second after you start a movin. I was just curious...thx

Well, I'm not exactly sure, but I an tell you it is A LOT faster than WT's launch the 2nd or 3rd time you go through the station. Its pretty fast, maybe a little over 60 or 70.

I was wondering for those who have been on both Xcellerator and TTD, which launch is more powerful meaning pulls more G's? From what was said in another topic about TTD's launch taking 3.2 seconds means it should pull more G's and also said TTD has reached 127mph. I know people say TTD's launch is more intense because how long the launch is but I'm asking as if they were the same length of time, which one is more powerful? Thanx

Ryan, both TTD and Xcelerator have almost identical launch G forces. When you start playing with time and speed, then the G forces change, so your question is like comparing apples to oranges.

If both launches were 4 seconds with TTD reaching 120 and Xcelerator reaching 80 - then TTD would be significantly more intense, since your question makes Xcelerators launch less intense (more time to reacch the same speed).

You know that stomach feeling you get when you go really fast in a short period of time? Well, obviously, you get that a lot on TTD. For the whole freakin' launch too. If you don't like that, then get over your fears, or don't go on it. Saying that, I would say that the g-forces on TTD would be pretty intense. I think I now know what Jeff meant by saying that if the launch were any longer, it would start to be uncomfortable.

It is intense, but not as intense as Hypersonic or Dodonpa (thankfully). I think CP got a great mix of intensity, and re rideability.

hey, HyperSonic XLC's launch is good! not Top Thrill Dragster good, but good nonetheless...

Dragster: 3 Millennium Force: 41
Raptor: 30 Wicked Twister: 13

Well that's a quick way to get off topic...anyone who can actually answer my question? I've been on the thing-I know how intense it is...I just would like to know some numbers.

CP, I do not believe those numbers have been published - just 0 - 120 in 4 seconds. I would quess the initial speed after 1 sec is between 60 and 80, and then it increases 15 to 20 MPH each second thereafter.

The launch on Xcel is quite intense. But that is mostly due to the shortness of it, and the pull up is much tighter than Dragster's. Xcel tops out pretty close to where Dragster hits verticle. But the lenght and speed (feeling) of Dragster's launch put Xcel to shame. I loved Xcel, and would love to back to ride it again but nothing can really compare to Dragster.
