Indoor waterparks

I take the seasonal trip to CP every year and I have family that lives in Huron and Sandusky and I will stay with them for a week. So when Im there I try to headout to one of the indoor waterparks. A couple of years ago I went to Great Wolf and last year I went to Kalahari. I never got to got to Castaway Bay because my family didn't want to. So I want to know how it compares to the other water parks in size and thrills.

Castaway Bay is bigger than Great Wolf Lodge in size and amount of slides. It's Smaller than Kalahari in size, but have basically the same amount of slides. Castaway Bay has alot of area and slides for little kids bu has some of the most intense body slides ive been on.

I personally will be taking advantage of their insane discount this winter for the 4-10pm pass to try it out.

Castaway Bay has a wave pool (as small as it is) where as neither of the other two don't (except for the fact that Kalahari will have one when it expands the indoor park). I had alot of fun at CB when I went, but once you've gone on everything about 5 times, it gets boring.....that's when you hit the arcade(which is amazing BTW) or go get something to eat before going for a second run.
Go and give CB a visit, it never hurts to give something a try.

Oh and I'd have to disagree with you Richard on the amount of slides Kalahari has as opposed to CB. CB has 5 body slides while Kalahari has 4 body and 3 tube slides. They both have water coasters, but CB uses water jets and Kalahari's uses "belts" powered by motors (which I liked better because it launches you right from the start:)). But in any case, both are fun and exciting. I do agree with you about CB having the more intense body slides, but Kalahari has a zoom flume and 2 tube slides.

Ya I really liked Kalahari when I went, I think that it is huge and a lot of fun. I agree with TTD 120mph though it gets pretty boring after a while. I think i will give CB a try next time though sounds like fun

My wife and I were just there on Sunday/Monday, for my son's 1st Birthday (he loves water!) and we were very impressed, though we haven't been to the other ones in Sandusky. Also, with some of the specials they have on rooms, it becomes very affordable. We got a Starfish Room for $109 with their Say no to Snow promotion, and could have got it for $89 if we had waited another day or two. I guess they run specials the closer it gets to being left vacant.

When you figure that a day pass is $15 for Season Passholders, that is $60 right there. Plus, we got the free breakfast vouchers for the buffet by showing our pass at check-in. That's another $18 savings. It's not the best food, your typical breakfast buffet. So, basically you are looking at spending around $30 for the hotel room.

We can't wait till the little guy gets a little bigger and can ride some of the "big boy" slides, but he (and us) had a blast watching him play in the Tide Pool.

The arcade was fun too, as we are only 600 points away from our tacky Simpsons' Dart Board!

I also didn't like the lines at Kalahari. The line for the FlowRider was ridiculous...even though it was fun.:) As was their Zoom Flume.

When I went the Flow Rider was closed and I was pretty disapointed, but I still had a good time.

I have never been to another indoor waterpark, except Castaway Bay. We had a great time, but the return factor (for me) is missing. Just not enough to keep me busy. Maybe that would be different if I had kids or wanted my toenails painted. Tis a nice place, though...especially for familys. (At least the ones who have "some" disposable income.)

We think it's a great option for Halloweekends---if the weather tanks (as it often can) you still have something to do. If the amusement park were closed, I think it would be a one evening/morning thing at most, and even that is a bit much. Though, the water coaster is awfully re-rideable!

I keep wanting to go during the winter, but I want to go skiing first, and can't even manage to schedule that. Plus, I'll be in Florida four weeks from tomorrow, so there is swimming in my near-term future even without CB. ;)

I have been to GWL in Kansas City, and from what I have seen, CB sounds a hell of a alot better.
