Indoor Waterpark

A wise man once said that the best way to learn what the park is planning is to take a survey.

I took part in a servey yesterday and although a lot of the questions were normal there were quite a few about an indoor waterpark. Not much interesting there... as we already new about the expansion... but one of the question was as follows:

On a scale of 1-5 rate the following ideas for theme of an indoor waterpark:

Sports
Snoopy/Peanuts
Polynesian
Caribbean
Cedar Point

Some interesting ideas there. Although I dont care much for the Snoopy or Sports one (and though Cedar Point would be cool.... what would it be?) but the others sound nice.

Where'd you find this survey?

Employees walking around and picking people. I was by Wicked Twister. Got a free pop out of it too. :)

I dunno.. a 420 foot tall waterslide that launches you at 120 mph might be fun? ;)
Hopefully they wouldnt have to remove any thing off the rafts you would sit on though. ;)

Yeah, but can you imagine the climb up the stairs to get to the top of the slide!

Ok now on a serious note, do you think that the indor waterpark that they are building is a dirrect attack on Great Bear Lodge? Because that was the first thing I thought when I heard about this project.

Arms down.....Arms down.....Arms down.......Arms down.....Arms down....Arms down...(you think they would get it the first time?!)

I think that the Caribbean is way to common for a waterpark. They might as well do something original, like Sports, which I think would be rather difficult to theme, but may be very cool if they do it well.

Common or not, it's about the most important thing on the planet to me when I'm having to deal with another Northeast Ohio winter. Last November when we went to Universal, where did we stay? Royal Pacific resort.

Which makes me think that actually they're overlooking the South Pacific theme. I love Hawaii... would be nice if there was a little piece of it here.

DELETED! What time does the water show start?

I think that no matter what the teaming that no matter what, it will be more extreme then Great Bear Lodge, because lets think about it. CP is the most extreme park in the country; will any of us that keep up in this forum / website go to their new indoor water park? But cader Fair is good, they started as CP and kept it fresh and extreme to the point that other parks looked at them as an example. When the top brass of CP figured out that they could put more $$$ in there pockets they jumped at the chance that they could charge parks just to do things right. Now that Great Bear Lodge has jumped on CP / CF’s location of course CF is going to take a good amusement location and make the $$$, not that CF will take the easy way and not go for the tried and true. But go for the extreme, because that is what they do.
does anyne have an idea of where the indoor water park will be? i hope they dont get rid of some of the pond or parking lot. the parking lot gets really full from people going to friday's and the pond is very nice.

i know it's at the raddison hotel, but where at the raddison?

It's not on the peninsula; the Radisson is by the main sine. If you scribed to Walt’s news feed you’d know that CP got the tax brake from Sandusky to tare down some buildings and add on to the Radisson (that either CP or CF owns). Even tough Sandusky it hitting CP pretty hard on the parking tax thing, even tough CP has brought more revenue in to Sandusky than any thing else in recent history.
In an earlier thread I said I thought they would not tear down the Friday's. I am having second thoughts about that. There is a lot of unused space in that building. I know that it is (or was) the larges Friday's in the country.

I too like the Hawaii theme. I will take it a step futher and say they can make some nice Hawaiian gardens in there and set it up so people might want to have their weddings in there. That would boost the appeal of the property.

Either way I think they are going to have to use some of the current parking area and build additional parking across the street to the South.

No matter where you go, there you are.

they really should tear down the friday's (if they were). there is always a wait there and the place is huge, so they must make a lot of money off of it.

another thing,

I KNOW WHAT RADDISON WE'RE TALKING ABOUT!!!

jeez

I've heard many of you referring to Hawaii as Caribbean. Um, wrongo! The Caribbean consists of the many islands in the southern portion of the Gulf of Mexico, i.e. the Caribbean Sea. Hawaii, on the otherhand, is in the Pacific Ocean, a bit north from the Equator.

:)

P.S. I think a Caribbean theme would be great for an indoor water park.

I do not think the the TGIFriday's will be touched. I agree with the South Pacific theme, it's not as common as a Caribbean theme, so it would have a little extra interest.

than in the drink with a boat on the rocks.

How many Caribbean themed indoor hotel waterparks are there?

I would stay away from that theme b/c I bet the next waterpark Disney builds will be based on Pirates of the Caribbean.
