I think the Mine Ride change was sometime after the incident on May 24, 1984 in which a 5-year-old kid fell (or was pushed) from the ride and fractured his skull when he hit the grass. I don't have any other details except that the kid's name was Patrick Camp.

Anyway, I distinctly remember that Mine Ride's height restriction was '48" or accompanied by an adult'. I think there may have also been a sign up there that read, "Please, no hand-held infants" but I may be mistaken.
I wonder if they have considered lowering that one to 46". A number of other rides have also gone from 48" or accompanied to strict 48". The Cedar Downs Racing Derby comes immediately to mind.

Who rode both Mine Ride and Cedar Downs before he was 4' tall...

Now that you mention it, I think Witches Wheel was also raised.

Dispatch Master, This is Transport one! I'm losing control, I'm losing control!
I think I know why the Witches Wheel height restriction is as it is...it's because the manufacturer's stated rider requirement is not a height requirement but an age requirement...and those heights (48" and 60") correspond to the appropriate ages. I don't have my notes in front of me, but I believe it's 8 years old and 12 years old...

While this thread has illustrated CP does make changes to the height resrictions periodically I have a "STRONG FEELING" the height restriction on MF WILL NOT change before the end of the 2000 season.
Again, this is just my "feeling"
Sorry to disappoint any 48-53.9 inch visitors. Maybe NEXT YEAR.
I'm confused now, Old Timer Tim says that CP won't change the restriction this year, but Dan's first post says that it is changing to 48" on Millennium Mania. Is there anything official to back this up? I just want this one question answered, Is CP changing MF's height restriction for Millennium Mania?? (or at all?)
Unless an announcement was made today, this is not official.
Some of us have heard this rumor from Unnamed Sources who would have a good reason to know if the restriction is changing. But as with all rumors of this type, this must be taken as just that...a rumor...unless and until the park makes it official.
We can all hope and expect that the restriction will change, but don't believe it until you see an attendant standing in front of the ride entrance with a red candycane in hand.

I can tell you with a reasonable degree of certainty that it won't happen this year.
