Ideas for Virtual Queue System

Ouimet said that parks will likely see virtual queue in their future. How do you think the system should be set up?

I think it should be set up where people can buy a pass to be able to skip the line for all major attractions.

The park needs something other than fast lane for people on a tight budget. A system were people have to wait to ride the ride but not necessarily in a actual line would be nice. This way they can watch a show or eat while they are in their "virtual queue."

They have that, its called a queue. Seriously, I don't understand why they need to offer something for EVERY type of budget out there. Either you can afford it or you can't, plain and simple. Outside of Disney every park charges for their virtual queue, some more expensive than Cedar Point. So why is it that Cedar Point is the park that needs to have different levels so those who are on a budget can get perks too?

i think the virtual line thing is really dumb. A big part of my cedar point day is talking/hanging out while waiting in line for a ride.

I understand what a virtual queue system is.

I totally agree. I think Fast Lane is not needed. The best parts of my day are waiting in line, I don't need to buzz through the lines and be done by noon.

Enjoy the rest of your day at America's Rockin' Roller Coast! Ride On!

I personally think it is a good idea. Those who like to hang out with friends in line will still be able to do this. The only difference is that they can do it anywhere inside the park instead of only in between two silver handrails. This really isn't a perk. It just allows guests to roam around the park as they wait for their turn to ride. That is why from a business perspective it is also a good idea. Guests can spend money at restaurants, games, gift shops, and arcades as they wait in line. They will be able to enjoy more attractions in one day. Ultimately it will increase in-park spending and give guests a better bang for their buck, a true win-win situation.

Only rides with over a 30-45 minute wait should use a virtual queue system. It wouldn't make sense for rides with a shorter line to use it because you can't do much in that short of a time frame. This means on Sunday there might only be 3 rides that use virtual queue and on Saturday there might be 8.

Then you should be applauding Fast Lane, as it will provide you marginally more time to hang out and talk with your BFFs while we skip on by to the front of the line. :)

Plus the fact that Cedar Point does not have the Disney scale of non ride attractions. I know I have seen days when Dragster and Millennium were down at the same time and guests flooding the midways. If there are no queues to hold people off the midway they will become packed, as Cedar Point doesn't have enough shows, restaurants, shops to occupy that amount of people

That was the theory behind FastPass.

What Disneyland discovered was that they were warehousing a *ton* of people in queues, and when they dumped all those people on the midway, there was nowhere for them to go, and they really didn't buy any more stuff. As a result, FastPass was removed from many of the rides at Disneyland that had been equipped with the system. That freed up a bunch of rides to once again absorb the crowds of people who were waiting for their turns on Space Mountain and Indy.

That's why it will be interesting to see what happens with FASTPASS Plus at Walt Disney World, where guests will be able to book their attractions, parades, and character greetings in advance. Apparently additional attractions will be added to the FASTPASS network to compensate for the times taken by those using FASTPASS Plus.

"Thank the Phoenicians!"

I think it would be very convienent but I think there would be a lot of problems with it.

I'm not sure how much I can/should say about FASTPASS Plus, but from what I've seen so far, I like it, and guests seem to like it too (besides us enforcing the return times - don't even get me started on that). If it's implemented it's going to make the FASTPASS system a lot more efficient and less of a headache.

I feel like a virtual queue does have its benefits, but I really can't visualize it being implemented at Cedar Point.

^ This.

I can't believe the amount of FASTPASS tickets I picked up walking the platform of TTA (best ride to work at, IMO) or having people come up to me when I worked FASTPASS for Stitch, and having a FASTPASS for Space Mountain, not having one at all, or as the above poster said, coming back outside of the return time.

It would be very difficult to implement and tweak, and would probably be a couple years before the system would be efficient.
