Hello everyone. Spring is upon us and opening day at CP is approaching us. I am in high school and for our next school newspaper, The Knightly News (we are the Holy Names Knights), I would like to write an article about Cedar Point. For our last issue I wrote a brief summary about what's in the park and the park history so now I'm thinking I might write some tips for people heading to the park any time soon or something like that. If anyone wants to give me any ideas I would really appreciate it, and so would the rest of the staff of The Knightly News. Thanks.

Actually I was looking at that when I read your post. I'm going to use some of those. If anyone has any ideas for a topic about CP other than just tips I could use those as well.

I know the Point Online has some nicely-written articles you could use in reference to this:

You could write about what is new in the park for this year, or just some new additions in the last couple of years.

I wrote an article for my schools newspaper RAMPAGE (LHS Rams) last year right before school got out about Cedar Point. I wrote the article similar to something you would find in a travel magazine, simply highlighting some of the key attractions both in the park and at Soak City/Challenge Park. Being a CP freak, it was hard to contain the writing to fit on just one page lol. Also, good pictures are a must!

Cedar Point rocks my socks.

Very true about the pictures, I picked some great ones last time, I'm going to have to find new ones for this issue. I'm sure it won't be too hard.

Here's an article from my high school paper that I wrote my senior year after TTD was announced. You have to scroll down to page 2, and it's a decent sized PDF file, so it may take a minute to load. There's also an amusing column by one of our students on page 5 that expresses a general distaste for many of the names CP has given its recent rides.

You might want to note that I did not actually call up the park and interview Janice and Monty, I just pulled the quotes from park press releases.

I actually won an award for that story at a high school newspapers award luncheon at the University of Toledo. I also got an "unofficial" award from our advisor for being most likely to write a really long, award winning CP story.

You should also check out this link. In our senior edition, we wrote fake news, and I think most people here would be amused by my front page story. The best part is that most people believed it when they saw it was written by me.

Excellent articles. I love the fake news edition, especially the comment about Six Flags. On the other hand, I was greatly disturbed with the plan for Mean Streak!!! Thanks for the help.
